Actually I'm trying to figure away to get disabled folks to great hikes. Ive got OA both knees, back stenosis, chronic fatigue... Maybe do a camp magic for 4 hours or plan a smaller doable hike with chair ( I know mountain won't do, but some can!) As I'm in bed recovering from fatigue and pain, the idea of a small hike with help sound do able ( 5 miles 2.5 in... Camp hike out ) It's the journey not miles If I'm thinking about it, I've hired a disabled trainer who understands..

Time to get cheesy. This is honestly my favorite video that anybody has done of the PCT. First, I commend your spirit and bravery for taking the trip on as a lone woman and for seeing it through to the end. I appreciate that you shared your vulnerable moments of stress and fear with us and how you didn’t let it get the best of you. Obviously the sweeping views and gorgeous landscapes were breathtaking but I loved that you took the time to show us the beauty that lies in the small things on the trail. A heartfelt congratulations on completing the PCT and making women proud, and a big thank you for the amazing video and inspiration for my future hike!

I am a fellow southerner and live near the beginning of the Appalachian Trail in Blue Ridge Georgia. As a young man I was lucky enough to travel throughout Europe. Now I am medically disabled and not able to hike. Your videos allow me to see things and go on journeys that are no longer possible for me and for that I am truly grateful. Your commentary and interviews are delightful and your cinematography is stunning. I don’t know how you accomplish some of the shots you capture without lots of sophisticated equipment. Also, the editing and music are always spot on. Thanks for allowing me to join you on the journey.

About seven months ago I started going paralyzed from guillain barre, and couldn’t walk for about three months, which caused a blood clot from my calf to my kidney that broke off and traveled to both lungs and a piece of my lung died :-X. But I’m getting my legs and my lungs back now and have been hiking daily getting a little further each day. Goal is to complete the NY section (at least) during the summer. Thank you SO MUCH. I’m finally jazzed about something for the first time in a long time and have a goal. You’re the best!!

Our backpacking days are behind us, but my husband has been a member of the PCTA for nearly 30 years and he did volunteer trail clearing in the Desolation Wilderness area for 25 years, every summer. To Pulaski's, McClouds and 'blow-downs', and to life's adventures. Looking forward to watching your other trail documentaries.

Well, y'all just went and done did it. Here I had all of this PCT nonsense carefully pushed back into a never-visited and thoroughly obscure part of my brain, and now after watching all of your bloody videos, it has snuck out, crept past the door and fully invaded my consciousness. To the degree that now I am actually thinking about trying to do the PCT in 2022. The issue here is that I am old enough that I shouldn't even be thinking about such a venture, let alone actually contemplating actually putting a foot on the trail. I guess time will tell. I fully expect that lacking the Lord's help I will never be able to complete this extreme stretch of my old frame. I just hope He is willing to keep me going when the going gets rough.

That strange happy feeling you get when you start a trail, she described it as "free". I think it has to do with our brain chemistry being evolved from 2 million years ago when we had a truly nomadic existence. That strange feeling happens to me every time. It's a feeling of being cut loose. It's the answer to the "why" we hike question.

Where they are right now, west of Lake Almanor marks the border between the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Cascades. And in a couple of days the difference in geology will become apparent as they enter Lassen National Volcanic Park, my favorite of California's many National Parks. The Cascade Range is volcanic, with lots of famous volcanic peaks, many of which are still considered to be active. Most of the elevation from here forward is below the snow 3 to 7,000 ft until they shift over to the Trinity Alps. They'll have some hot days along the way.

Hey homemade wanderlust, this video was amazing. I am someone going through some struggles in my life, but i love the outdoors, and tonight one of those struggles is feeling unwell/weak like im getting sick. But I also struggle from mental illness and certain things. I made a bowl of chicken noodle soup midway and watched all the way through. I am so thankful you made this movie. i love the idea, and may one day try something similar, I am from Canada, and I know we have some amazing paths here too. Anyways much respect sent your way, props on finishing both trails!

Just amazing Dixie! The Two(ish) minute video was great, but this really did a great job of showing it all. The magnificence of natures beauty, the strength of your spirit and will, and the drama of mother nature throwing everything at you as you persevered through it all, one step at a time. You have the knack for sharing the adventures and joys where ever you find them. Thank you for the inspiration and dialog that you included. Also a big shout out to Aaron for his time and efforts. The editing and musical selections along with the video is spectacular. I wish you the very best on your CDT hike! Safe travels and happiness always!

At the 23 min mark you talk about not being able to change the wind... one of the more amazing quotes I'd heard is "you can't adjust the wind but you can adjust the sails"... I'm not a sailor so I don't know exactly what that means, but I think it means you can make the wind work FOR you vs against you if you know what you are doing. Even adversity can be for the best if you work with it and not against it.

Dixie and all the rest, "CONGRATULATIONS Y'all!!" Once again Dixie, Thank You for bringing me along with you, I must say, this is the first time I got to see and be there in spirit with my friend Dixie when you got 'down,' I never thunk I'd ever see it, it makes me think back to the day in Texas when I fell on an oilfield wellhead frac location job sight, sadly the fall broke my lower back in five disc levels, it was the day before I was heading back to SE Idaho then fly back to Georgia to begin my AT Thru Hike trip, fully funded by my employer with six months off with their blessings, I'm grateful I'm still able to experience each of the triple crown thru hikes with all of you my thru hiking heroes that film their entire trips, I say Thank You All and God Bless Each Of You. :)

That's a pace of basically 1 km/15 min, kept up over 24 friggin hours what?! I still don't understand how this is an option even with carrying barely anything + having rested properly beforehand. But doing that with all of the gear and amidst a whole thru-hike. My brain hurts from trying to grasp this.

I did 100km in one day already twice (don't ask, why) Doable but afterwards I was almost unable to walk. That's nothing I'd do on a trip. That's something you can do as an outstanding event but make sure you have the next day off.

Hey there Dixie, Thank-y'all so much for this absolutely beautiful and well-edited docu-history of your PCT adventure...This must have been painful and sooo time-intensive to assemble,.. and having to decide when ''enough is enough''was hard I'm sure... and then having to finally agree that it was actually ''finished''.... The result of all your and Aaron's hard work and labor of love produced a gem of a video that deserves to be seen by anyone interested in the subject of hiking/camping and even those who just love Nature....So, EVERYONE PLEASE SHARE. Jessica you deserve so much success for all you do for your channel, and I hope Aaron enjoys an equal measure of accomplishment...Bless you both and... ''we'll see y'all next time''...CHEERS TO YOU BOTH !!

Miss Dixie, Buttercup, Jessica, your words through out the 3 hikes have touched my heart. Every struggle.... it makes us stronger, I needed to hear that. I chose to watch hiking videos instead of feeling pitty for myself in this last breakup. I'm 48, I didn't see my self alone, again. Yet, as you are about to accomplish your triple crown, the CDT... I feel ok being alone... I think the word is too big, too precious, too awesome to not see. I've been actively hiking for 6 years. Long backpacking was not in my plans. You are inspiring, I am falling for the idea!!! Thank you!!

Hey Dixie, thanks for this version of your PCT hike. I'm Brazilian and I'm planning on doing the JMT in a couple of years and your footage of the Sierra is pretty nice. I've already watched a few JMT thruhike videos, but your shot of Mt Whitney summit during sunrise is the only one that teared me up (twice, cause I'd already seen your vlogs of the Sierra section haha). Thank you so much. And best of luck on the CDT!

Dixie! I am a starting thru-hiker and I grew up in California, so the Sierras are my home. If you have the time, the JMT or John Muir Trail is one of my favorite trips, you do much of the passes you did (Yosemite Valley to Summit of Mount Whitney), but the season is in the summer, and trust me, the mountains are somehow more gorgeous in the summer.
