Pacific Crest Trail, Islands pass, Donahue pass and Lee Vining

PCT 2024, Days 79 to 81. We went over Islands Pass and Donahue Pass with a resupply hitch to and from the town of Lee Vining.

So yeah, Mammoth mountain is a volcano, so lots of volcanic rocks around, As you drive Hwy 395 from LA for example you see cinder cones and lava flows. Looks like you missed Devil's Postpile or didn't film it. You could have crossed the San Joaquin river, other hikers ahead of you did it.

I 'm curious if it is easy to follow the trail...especially where it is rocky. Are there GPS apps on your phone to help you stay on trail. Sometimes while your filming and walking, I can't make out the trail

@@pudster4115 In most places the trail is very easy to follow as long as it is not covered/impassable due to snow or other things. Most hikers use an app called “FarOut” which provides a very good gps track. It also shows water sources and some tent sites etc.

Yeah, fire season has started so every day you dawdle in town is another day a fire could ruin your hike to Canada. Not really sure where you are because you don't post the actual dat on the video, wish you would.
