Chemicals tip: if you have the deconstruct machine and have lots of spare paint, put the spare paint cans in the deconstructer, and it will give you chemicals

You can also throw a light flare at those mannequins taking out whole groups, and sometimes they drop thermosap crystals. I've never seen that any where else. I don't even know what thay are for yet.

Tip i found is if you find a "hopped up hare" or a "Happy hare/bunny" cant remember which one it is, but chuck them onto your car somewhere, one recharges your car battery at an extremely fast rate, and the other slowly repairs parts on your car. be careful with the other types of alien tumbleweeds however, but experiment if you don't know what it does.

Hares are generally the good ones and Bunnies are the bad ones; Hopped up Hares recharge the battery, and Happy Hare repairs components. Beating Hearts are also helpful anomalies which repair car components and also heal your character; pacemakers supposedly recharge your battery, but idk how they work... the beating heart you just drive up to it, but the pacemaker has some kind of inventory interface. Any electrical damage can charge your battery, but will also damage your car components. There is also a poi called a Full Service Stop, which will repair your car and recharge your battery to a certain extent.

A super useful tip for lightbulbs to stop from having to craft them and use copper wire, when you come across the blue light stands often near lead plates, use the vacuum on the lights to suck out any bulbs 👍

The liberator and regenerator are some of the best early game unlocks as it will save you a lot of repair time and materials. The liberator lets you pop off parts whole from the junked vehicles you come across, and the regenerator will repair parts while you do a run. I have actually managed to replace all my parts up to armored/off-road without having to build just by doing this, which leaves more energy and materials for other upgrades. A very nice and quick way to upgrade early on.

For those that want to take their time exploring and just de-stress one of the developers mentioned in a steam community post (pre-launch patch notes) that you can turn off basically whatever you want in the settings and play the game your way... "Are you looking for a cozy drive through the Pacific Northwest? Just hunting around for parts and vibing to the radio? The “Disable Instability Storms” setting removes storms that manifest due to growing instability, e.g. arrive after a certain time on a map, allowing you to take your time exploring every nook and cranny. Would you like to open a gateway and outrun the storm, while avoiding any surprise Zone Storms? The “Disable Gateway Storms” setting removes storms summoned by opening gateways back to the garage. If you’re not interested in trying to outrun the Zone Storms at all you can enable both settings. You’ll never be chased out of a map by instability storms, but you will still have to contend with the zone’s anomalies and random anomalous weather patterns that drift through occasionally."

30+ hours in the game: ALWAYS EAT MRES THE MOMENT, YOU FIND THEM THEY ARE WORTHLESS! They restore only 12 health, only stack to 5, and take up 4 slots. Compared to cans which heal for 9, stack to ten and take only 2 slots Dumpster pearls, you can use an Impact Hammer on them then repair then with a Sealing Kit. This will make it I think is called "unstable" (name doesn’t matter) which gives a higher chance of a cosmetic dropping (wheel bobble head ETC). Materials are easy to come by Cosmetics are not I recommend doing this for all pearls. Matter regeneration is worthless until you hit the inner circle paneling (acid and armor) and expand it to tier 2. If you are not going for the 6 issues on a part achievement the moment your tires start having misaligning and getting punctures, you should deconstruct them and make new ones. The only early fabricator unlock you MUST get first is Offroad Tires, since summer tires even when brand new pop easily off road. Going on foot vs risking your car has more to do with how easily you can get the car in and out of a location that may have a hazard soon. If you have to sandwich it between trees you can’t run over, then go on foot. If it’s an open field and just the possibility of Shakers appearing them who cares. Yellow marks will show up on parts, but you have to look at the car part to know if it has a problem that can’t be fixed, and the part needs to be replaced. Unreliable or Fragile are good examples so don’t only look at the car monitors to find out if there is a problem. Always to a look over your car before a run into the garage to find parts that need to be fully replaced. Picking up an anchor while yes can cause chaos and it will damage you over time with radiation. Isn’t a big deal unless you have conditions and anomaly combos on the map that are terrible. In Those cases, just park your car some distance away and run back to it with the anchor and floor it. The damage from an anchor max should be 10 hp which is just a can of food. Terrible example combos Shocking Speed condition + Electric Tourists anomaly or Turncoat condition + Right Left anomaly. Actually Right Left anomaly is the worst and I normally part away from anchors when it’s on the map. Junctions getting more difficult as you collect more Anchors is a MYTH. The anomalies spawned on grabbing an Anchor only stay in that area. It doesn’t extend to the rest of the map. NEVER DO ANCHORS LAST, Anchors should be your targets. When you enter a junction plan your route to hit every anchor in a row. The only time you should be stopping is for Shock Tower, Labs, Freight Trucks, Pneumatic Tubes, Gas Stations (for Dumpsters), Fuel Trucks if you are running low on fuel, and car tires on abandoned cars if you need rubber (the rest of the car is worthless). Also, you should only stop for them if they are on the way to the Anchor. Farms and Homes give Clothes and Food, both are mostly worthless (SERIOUSLY MRES ARE TRASH). Since you will find them both in low amounts in labs. And enough of them to not have to seek them out in the game. There is ZERO point in going out of your route to Anchors unless you are looking for Zone Resources and even then, it shouldn’t be done until all Anchor energy is grabbed. If you take up the mentality of “I’ll grab it latter and explore” you are going to end up with runs that an Hours+ instead of what should be 15 - 30 minutes

Careful with storing essentials on outside racks! Later anomalies can steal pieces of your car and have stolen side rack pieces. You can get it back but in a pinch it's safer to store what you really need to get home in the trunk

Really interesting thing about the instability, when the yellow zone is coming in, stick around for a bit. Sometimes large pods will spawn (indicated as purple triangles on your map) and they are usually filled with insane loot, but usually spawn in really inconvenient locations. edit: they are more common in the deep zone, also they only spawn within the yellow area

There is LIM-pulse bumper technology that you can get early on, it shakes off bunnies and abductors with one button press. Also install side rails and lightning rod as soon as possible as there is huge amount of energy traps in the first zone. This upgrade would save your car from electric damage and also recharge battery.

Do you have to line up the car against the spark towers or anything electric for the lightning rod to work? Very hard to know that the rod is actually charging my battery and not my car getting fried

Just being near electric arc is enough. When you drive, it seems that electricity damages car directly, and it actually does but not much. When you stand outside, lightning rod attracts arcs so it is safe to wait until surrounding electric traps disappear. It may not be best tech to recharge battery, but it is definitely worth having while driving through junctions with electric anomalies.

@@nkhighlights6537 until you hit the zone conditions that super charges elect dmg. they took out about 80% of the health on a single attack on every panels and doors. long story short, i returned back to garage with 0% health and every external component nearly scrapped. was badly prepared for that zone with lead components rather than insulated ones.

32:50 those thermosap crystals are such a bitch to get and I need a ton of them :') also i got a tip, when at 33:50 those abductor is grabbing you, its best to put the car into park. Then the car aint going nowhere and it'll just take a couple of seconds before he goes away.

Tip: Don't let your gear break all the way. Instead, toss it in the recycler when it's low and you'll get most of the mats back, then craft a new piece.

Good tips. I'd also say not to worry too much about gas. It's all over the place in my experience. Also, if you leave the radio on at high volume when you leave the car, it can help you find it again in the dark. Lights on help too, but they drain battery.

tip: the manaqin folk act like dr whos weeping angels. throw a flare at a group of them then look away for a second. when you look back they will have rushed towards the light. they then explode leaving goodies

heres a easily missed tip: in the the top left menu when walking theres an arrow that points the direction of your car. it needs to point upwards for straight ahead. so simple yet so important

Solid batch of tips. I'd add to that: (minor spoilers ahead ig) - stable anchors, if pulled will generate a lot of anomalies in the immediate area, but I didn't feel they destabilise the zone as a whole. - up at the route scanner screen, top right corner shows two bars. One shows you roughly the amount of anchors you can find in this zone and the other shows you roughly how much time you will expect to have before the storm arrives. - if you stick it out till storm covers about half or more of the zone, some things will happen that you might want to check out ;) - red storm zone is NOT an instant kill, but you won't last long if you dilly-dally. - autoparker Will. Change. Your. Life. - zones can have various anomalous status effects, given names which are fairly self explanatory. More exact explanations can be found in the logbook once you visit a zone with such an effect. There's one i want to mention outright though - if you encounter Shocking Speed DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CAR POINTING TOWARDS AN OPEN AREA OR OFF A CLIFF!! You'll learn why soon enough. I try to delta out of those zones asap or park my car directly up against something solid. - if your car is worn, out of power, low on fuel etc. it doesn't immediately have to mean the end of your trip. Aside for crafting, You might come across things that will help you refill and repair mid-run. In a pinch and if possible, even local... Fauna... Can be useful to that end. Btw, How did you get a truck wreck to spawn at your garage? I assumed there's only the standard abandoned car wreck that refreshes, but a delivery truck would be way better farming-wise.

Great video! Quick question though, when looking at the map what is the purpose of the floating ball to the left that jumps up and down? I think it has something to do with approaching storms but not sure. And then on the right side of the same map there is the bar partially filled with yellow with a line running through it. The floating ball is just an extra flare for the storm as you said. Then there is the yellow gauge that you need to fill up by collecting anchors in order to open the gateway, more lines means more anchors

The dumpster has given me dumpster pearls that you need to combine with a bulb to get the most out of. Always worth a quick check before scraping your pearls. The liberator, if you shot between panels you can remove more than 1 panel at a time

How do you combine the bulb with the pearl?

@@Bouncy_penguin not all pearls are the same. If you have a pearl in your inventory, and there's a yellow diamond shape in the lower left corner of the pearl. It needs scanning. Some pearls are "unreliable", what ever that means. But some pearls require a bulb to get the most out of it. So you make a bulb, hold it, and the R2 prompt will appear when looking at the pearl. I've only found 2 such pearls in the mid and last zones

Just an FYI, make sure to use the scrapper on the bunnies once you get it off your car. They drop stuff! I got a cosmetic that way.

at 28:42, ive found out (by panic fueled accident) that you can scrap the bunnies with the scrapper. and they drop unique things like cosmetics, or i think higher level materials.

20:40 If there are anchors in the zone, even if it doesn't have a number, picking one or more of them up will make portals appear on the map and let you teleport out. Not sure if i works that way if you've gone somewhere other than your scanned destination, but I have had it happen.

It is not always just windy and rainy. My first storm was in form of pillars anomaly, they were chaotically raising from the ground blocking the road and throwing car around. So now I tend to avoid getting into roaming storms.

Yep little yellow storms can be rough, wind blows you into stuff damage car or activate anomalies after as a beginner getting every anomaly at once was bit extreme . Bunny’s bollards tourists water jets buzz saw all at once plus radiation on 2nd trip out, best to move away asp.

When an abductor is about to tow you, put your car in "park". Especially with off-road tires, you will barely move.

In 15:30 is that junker supposed to get better as you progress in the game, as mine has not at all and I have completed the game. I am not sure if that is a bug or if i need to find something to get a better version

It would be nice to know what key you pressed to activate that car teleport. Might want to mention those things. Biggest problem I have with this game is the HUD and how to activate some things is confusing.

Yes you can, it's just a late game upgrade sadly. Consider the game a 3 part or chapters, so you can unlock it on the 3rd chapter

The in game brightness, especially in the shop and at night, seems a lot brighter for you, than what I - which is the biggest struggle I have. Is that an in game setting or just your general brightness setting?

Tried this game yesterday for the first time... did the first excursion in the zone, figured out thing about the anchors causing instability when i picked up my first one and things started to go crazy ( the ground was shifting and changing and stuff protruding from it ). One anchor wasnt enough so i punched it towards the next one with passenger door open in utter panic, immediately come up with a plan to get second one as fast as possible. Damaged car so badly on the panicked drive to the gateway that when i passed through and car stopped in front of garage i couldn't move it inside before fixing it. Great game, felt like i am driving in the area in the movie Annihilation... Good tips, now i feel ready for my next run later today XD Btw, is there some time limit when in the zone or something, does it become progressively worse even if you dont pick up an anchor ? I havent noticed that it is mentioned anywhere but i was so paranoid and creeped out on my first run that i treated it like something really bad will happen if i stay a minute longer then i need...

The first time i left the garage the road pushed me into the air, i landed upside down and all the doors and panels were low durability that sucks

the biggest thing I need to know is how do I get rid of the storms because there is currently a story area blocked off by a storm by an area I cant go through until it stabilises

I think if you just keep doing runs away from that area over time it might stablize?

you can drive into unstable/stormy areas, just scan somewhere else on the garage map, then drive there once you leave. its pretty chaotic, but its possible.

Important Miss: Zone time limits! That is what I would turn off for full enjoyment and exploration for each zone!

I have been playing the game (and I LOVE IT!!!), but there are a few things I am wondering about. First off, how do you rotate/spin items in your inventory (PS5)? Also, I have done about 6 or 7 runs, and my car is starting to get some good upgrades, but I still have no rear hatch/trunk. Where do I find one, or what do I scan to get a blueprint? It seems odd to me I haven't come across a way to get one yet, and I'm sure I just missed something on one of my first runs.

The truck is just a door, try one of those. It took me a while to test this and honestly could have been an accident when i found it out. As for rotating I’m not sure on controller. Check the settings or the UI on your inventory.

I know R is the key bind on desktop for rotating but you have to be *holding* it like you're moving it around. Try holding it and see what pops up on the UI

Don't forget that `T for Teleport` uses your car battery - you should have some stuff to recharge and be sure you will not stuck completely))))

I've watched a few of these beginners guides after playing for about 15 hours -- this is the best one I've watched. I'd add put at least a couple of Battery Jumpers in your cars storage when you unlock it.

I purchased the game because I like the premise, I love the visuals, and I love the idea of the car as a companion to the whole adventure. And also because of the glowing reviews, which I watched a lot here on KZbin. I still haven't started playing, but I admit I am a bit intimidated by the sheer amount of stuff you have to pay attention to while playing. Guides like yours are very helpful, yet at the same time they emphasise, again, just how many things you have to consider as you play. One burning question I have for you is, how good is the game at explaining its own mechanics? When you first played it, did you find it confusing or unclear? I’m hoping this video helped. My video preview I did a while back had me feeling a bit lost at first cause I was taking too much damage and not getting enough materials and the loop was get materials and not have enough for repair putty. Now that I learned the loop I really did enjoy it. Rolled credits to give it a 8 personally. It all comes together in a unique way I had fun with.
