Pacific Drive - Ghosts Of The Past

In order to unlock the Lazarus Device, a component that makes it basically impossible to die in The Zone, you need to scan a Remnant Ghost. What the hell is a Remnant Ghost?

"It's an outerzone, the roadways are fine....ooh this one IS closing in rather quickly though...I made sure to open the portal just far enough to be able to do it but be close enough there's absolutely no pressure in getting to the portal before the zone closes" Knowing Jingles 'brilliant' driving, sense of direction and "it'll be fine" carefree attitude, who else half expected him to drive off a cliff, or get the 'car' stuck in something or otherwise NOT be able to make the portal in time and killing himself and the car again! lol P.S. To be fair, it kinda makes sense. Sure, if you never die, you won't unlock the upgrade. But, if you never die anyway, you don't actually need the upgrade, right?

@@Seth90 There's an achievement for unlocking every upgrade. I can't do that unless I fail and scan the ghost. I also can't fill out the logbook until I scan the ghost. Edit: Oh, there's also a story beat that relies on you having failed a run before, which falls completely flat if you never have. It's silly.

This is just the easiest way. If you search every area of every zone you will eventually find a remnant ghost

You don't even need to die to do it. You can abandon a run and the ghost will show up in the area you abandoned the run from.

Just strip a car, strip bare of any equipment, and drive into a zone and wait for a storm. Easy.

Okay, I get where they get the term "Lazarus Device" from, that's not so difficult. But to my Dutch ears it does sound extremely funny, as "Lazarus" is also in use as a superlative for "Drunk" over here, as in "Utterly wasted".

This is a long, Rube-Goldberg-esque way of getting this scan. Anyone going to tell Jingles he could have just left the stripped down car at the zone entrance and abandon the run in the menu? Car is in an easy to find and reach location, it's quick, and he doesn't have to kill himself.

Sadly, I encountered a remnant ghost very early in the game when my car (the remnant) was killed before I could escape the wave created by opening the portal. When I came upon it after re-entering the zone, all you CAN do with it is scan it. So you have to fail epically before you can hope to get a Lazarus Device.

Actually Jingles... I accidentaly skipped a drive right at a junction portal and returned to the garage with most stuff lost. Returned to the place and found the remnant ghost, but did I scan it? Of course not...

"The Lazarus device makes your car impossible for you car to be destroyed" NO IT DOESN'T! It makes you Immortal with 30% hp minimum. Ifs funny really, its the one upgrade you kinda have to get ON PURPOSE. Otherwise you don't really need it.
