I used to volunteer at one of the kinds of places Felix talked about but it was strictly big cats. It's wild how individual each cat is. Every one of them has their own personality. There was a lioness who had nerve damage so she didn't get around really well, but she shared an enclosure with (and bullied) the biggest, derpiest looking tiger you've ever seen. He was a sweet boy. Like 600 lbs or something nuts and this little crippled lioness walked all over him. There was one tiger who I loved who would sit in the back of her enclosure and just stew, looking at another tiger in a different one. She could see other tigers but this one in particular pissed her off and she'd just stare and get mad. Another was very friendly and mischievous. She'd go up to the fence and chuff at people as they walked by then turn around and put her tail up like she was going to spray but never did (though she could.) There was a bobcat, Rusty, who was my favorite. He slept a lot but when he was awake I'd play with him with a stick through the fence

The homeless thing hits the cosmopolitan types hard because it spits in the face of them justifying the absurd cost of living. People who refer to 90% of the country as "flyover" actually think NYC or LA are the best places to live. Seeing so many homeless people in their paradise town blows up the illusion and reminds them they are a few bad days away. For the cost of some of these properties I have no clue why people would ever want to live in NYC. If I had 5 million to burn on a house I would have a fucking palace and a 100 acre estate, not a shoebox with a doorman.

I think they're putting more ads on the content that is less news-y or serious. (I'm totally cool with that lol). If that's the case, I think its an understandable way to try to work with lesser cash coming in maybe?

I'm sure Felix is right about the wolf-hybrid size effect. I know back in the 1980's there were a group of dog breeders who mixed wolves with german shepards. The offspring were huge averaging around 150 to 160 pounds. Unfortunately they ended up being unusually aggressive and a number killed their owners, as a result, I believe many states banned them.

@@erikcribley5271 No. It is important to endure some of the pain of commercial breaks. Though not stoically, enduring all pain without emotion. Nor like the epicurian, that ignores negativity, instead trading pain for pleasure. We must watch commercials as a monk would, enduring the necessary pain and doing away with unnecessary hardship while acknowledging the grace of life. In this way the podcast is monetized and profitable, hence "free" at the point of use. Having only paid in hardship.

I love Matt. But I can tell you for a fact that car jackings, robberies, and homicides skyrocketed in the summer of 2021. Speaking as an inner city Chicagoan who has lived in all but the very worst areas of Chicago. Whether the police were significantly de-funded, what morale the good ones have left has been obliterated by the "left wing reactionaries", who are just as bad as the right. I find them worse than the right (who also suck) thanks to their nauseating moral superiority complexes, and the fact that they did fuck up so many of our beautiful cities, legitimately scaring the shit out of city dwellers. I remember a carjacker nearly killing a woman two blocks from my elderly parent's house. Home burglaries next door, too. And these leftist yups have been some of the earliest to flee back to the suburban communities they came from. I haven't heard the homelessness segment but looking forward to it. I've been reading into the homelessness epidemic in LA. Looks like a very large segment are vets. So the empire sends these young men off to trample other nations, and then they get traumatized, economically trampled, and treated like human garbage when they return. Terrible cycle of trauma and abuse of the environment, our brothers and sisters, and the world at large all in the pursuit of a machine that's grown to be almost completely out of human control.

“Whether the police were significantly de-funded”? Do you not know? If you don’t even know, what are you so upset about? You’re the one doomsaying about “left-wing reactionaries” (LOL) supposedly defunding police. You’re trying to tell people that “left-wing reactionaries” make up the Chicago political establishment. lol You’re obviously lying. You’re also lying about police being defunded-that didn’t happen. You folks can repeat your lie as many times as you want but that doesn’t make it true. You’re probably also lying about being a fan of Matt Christman, because Matt is a leftist and all you’re doing here is spewing right-wing garbage. Alex is 100% correct about the economy being the primary cause of crime. As for police officers’ hurt feelings, maybe you should log off and go give them some great big hugs. No one is lowering their morale. You’re being melodramatic. If they feel bad for some reason, it’s because they’re watching too much Fox News and Ben Shapiro. Maybe they should log off too.
