As you noticed, passive sonar relatively easily gives full information. Evidently the Target Motion Analysis section is planned for the game. I noticed a lot of snippets of code mentioning that full TMA would be implemented later. The game is definitely early access but the framework is impressive. Even accounting for convergence zones, rain and wave noise, and various sonar channels. Regarding the listing sonar ranges I don't know how far I trust them. As the actual detection ranges have much more to do with the decibel levels of the sonar plus their ability to hear through noise. The decibel values which are unlisted having the biggest effect on range. Which unfortunately are unlisted. An Udaloy might have an assured detection range of 5.19nm at 5 kts with its bow sonar While an Alfa has an assured detection range range of around 3.71nm at 5 kts Or a KA-27 which detects around 2.2nm with its active dipping sonar

1:24:51 I am sure TMA will be implemented in a more progressive fashion with the ongoing development of the game. Don't forget that Triassic Games already implemented it pretty good in Cold Waters and that Sea Power is still in early access.

I absolutely love watching these. Having an actual sailor and sonar operator play is awesome. But as an army vet Go Army beat Navy!😂

The Scott was a Kidd class AAW (Anti-Air Warfare), so no towed array. Just the Spruance and Perry class for US surface units in the game currently, I believe.

There was a Sturgeon or two that sunk pier side as well; USS Guitarro sank pier side.

Mk 46s have a specific search they do that I'm sure JT is aware of. That search doesn't allow for a max range drop.

I hope JT and everyone else realizes that you have to maintain LOS on the sonobouys via ship or help or aircraft. In this game it’s 15 nm. Any buoys outside of 15nm of any unit will NOT be monitored so the plan of dropping bouys that far away with no monitoring isn’t going to work.

Hello JT, I've only watched up to 3:01:48 but Singapore is 550 miles North of here (Sunda Straits).

The 4th mission left me a little bewildered at the scenario designer. Sure, make it difficult to achieve but the TF should have assets to achieve its goals, and the mission laid out in front of it, otherwise they would IN REAL LIFE turn around and find another way. I make content for Combat Mission Battlefront and creating scenarios difficult or not should be play tested many times before you put a scenario out there that is a bust. How the hell did the Chinese get so many land assets on foreign soil?? If so why would you send a task force not capable of hitting land targets? I mean the US has what 3 Carrier groups just for the Pacific, any subs with tomahawks. Always a way to change things to still make the player think with the assets given. Doing suicidal runs to achieve the goal is NOT Realistic even for a simulation.

I wish you could manually control firing , as if you were the ship captain.. - for instance provide a vector.. launch 4 asroc on that general heading, with a spread of 5 degrees between them and change the target distance by 100-500 meters... It's been ages since I've played Harpoon, maybe I'm falsely remembering that I had 'more control'.

You can to a degree. You can manually target weapons from ships, subs and planes - I do that a lot if it's not too busy. Usually I just click the weapon in the status bar at the bottom, and then left click the target I want to attack on the map. I wouldn't do it when I have, for example, dozens of inbound antiship missiles, but for scenarios like Hormuz were it's a handful at a time, it's just as easy to do it that way, and I can get away with one bird per ASM as a general rule. Just pay attention to your maximum, effective and minimum ranges as applicable.

Can somebody tell Jive that he can just click the map to drop the torps. He doesn't need to directly click on the sub. And please for the love of god, use the information button so you know what buoy is detecting said sub.
