I did an episode a couple months or so ago (part 1,) you can watch here- • FEEDING TIG WELDING FI...
But I wanted to add to it, a few things that I could have gone even deeper on in the first episode! When learning How To Tig Weld, especially How To Tig Weld Aluminum, the amount of Welding Rod that we use is vitally important, So I hope that I can clarify this one a bit! And with the way I seem to be working with this channel, I'll probably think of more things I could have added, and have to do Part 3!

Brilliant video! How much rod is going into the pool is so important, but without your technique of marking the rod, it’s nearly impossible to perceive. You can watch hundreds of KZbin videos and never see this explained, because I’ve done that. Great one Dusty!!!

Hey Dusty, thanks for the video on filler rods. Seems like I have more trouble with 1/8 rod than I do with 1/6 or 3/32 rod . I can’t seem to get a nice bead with the 1/8 rod . Can’t get the amp right .more so when I try to weld 1/4 in. Aluminum. Thanks again for great video as always. Larry Moore!

Great videos, thank you. One thing I didn’t pick up though-and few seem to mention-is coordination of movement between torch hand and filler rod hand. Are you feeding as part of the dip or as the torch is moving between dips? Also, how does movement of filler rod hand work (to maintain 6-8” distance) as the bead moves forward. Seems the filler hand has to scoot forward with the torch hand. But most folks just show arc shots so you never get to see how these things work together.

@PacificArcTigWelding
@PacificArcTigWelding 4 жыл бұрын
Run beads over the pipe with no joint! Basically just stringer beads, no joint will allow you to dial in weld profile. Then when you move to welding joints you’ll know your settings and control really well:) Have fun!

Great video as usual. So I see you move the torch forward, add filler rod, pause, move forward again, add rod etc... Some people say to keep the torch moving continuously. Is this just preference or is it dependent upon the situation?

Hey man nice channel ! Looking forward to more clips! I have failed to find any good info on KZbin as to how to weld something like 1.6mm mild steel tube butt welded together (say to make a welding cart) without a tig pedal. Every video uses a tig pedal with steel. I have a cigweld (ESAB) transmig 185 ultra that can't be fitted with a tig pedal apparently. It's an auto set synergic as well as manual setup and I'm having a dammed hard time trying to learn to weld tig on it. I just seem to burn through my material even on autoset mode and moving quickly over the steel. Can you offer any advice? Keep up the great work man 👍👍

Thanks for the link man! I appreciate that you read all the comments and interact with your audience. I was hoping that you might have the time to chat with me about how you go about running a KZbin channel, cause yours is new but really well made and great fun to watch. I'm f you'd have the time to shoot me a g'day to nirvanabrick@gmail.com that'd be awesome as I'm looking to start something up where I learn to weld tig using channels like yours and the trials and tribulations of bumbiling through the many hours that I've got ahead of me to tig well. Who knows people might find it funny watching me stuff up a bunch of stuff and waste material along the way lol cheers for the advice!!

@moizzy1587
@moizzy1587 2 жыл бұрын
So I just started my first class and we're practicing on very thin aluminum (1/8 in) Does anyone have any advice for me on controlling the heat or some kind of method to the madness as far as choosing the right amperage for the type or thickness of metal you're working with?
@baldwindigital
@baldwindigital 4 жыл бұрын
So “front third” of the pool, just ahead of the point if you drew a line straight down from the plane of the tungsten? Filler never leaves the envelope of the shielding gas ⛽️ yes? And hey - Hope you’re well brother! Jeep just threw a $$$ temper tantrum (new wiring loom 😢) so I’m patiently rebuilding my forge fund. Ever tig mild to carbon or tool steel? I’m interested. I need to build an adjustable twisting wrench or two for forging by welding a second “handle” to the top of an old monkey wrench. Thinking ER70S-2 3/32”? SMAW seems so klunky for this op, TIG would be cleaner.
@PacificArcTigWelding
@PacificArcTigWelding 4 жыл бұрын
Oooof. Yes you can, but that’s a tricky matchup because each type of steel is drastically different from the other. Differences in strength, flexibility, corrosion etc. Best to hit the forums with that one. It’ll be a pretty rod-dependant weld out for sure. That sucks about the Jeep! Hopefully not too bad!?
@baldwindigital
@baldwindigital 4 жыл бұрын
Pacific Arc Tig Welding she’s running but it was painful... wiring loom got melted by an oil leak so it was an absolute tragedy of small issues turning into a monster. Anyway I blew all my $$$ on her so she loves me again for now, high maintenance women are like that? 😇 Luckily my actual woman is a gem... ...anyway, I see a lot of that tool with the shop built weld (and sometimes braze actually) so it’s able to work. Agree best results will be pretty rod dependent. Considering a good preheat as well. Lotta mass right in the crown of those wrenches. Certainly dress it and maybe even do a little v notch for best success as opposed to a butt. Oh was gonna say - Man that 26 torch is a big doggie! Looks like a CK indeed. Change the sticker and I dunno as you could tell. Thanks brother!

I tend to pay attention to two things, my standoff distance, and the height of the bead as well. I need to make sure I’m in nice and tight, and the height of the bead will show me I’m adding enough fill for sure:)

@@GraduatedIn that's good. You're ahead of the game already. It might be "easier" in that it wets out better but, 4043 is much more sensitive to heat and travel speed and it will tell you right away on thin materials. 5365 will cover-up your deficiencies.
