Thanks Michael, and a question. Have you seen any potential long range climate trends for arctic air coming to the northwest after mid January? One of my local Portland forecasters was talking about this as a possible trenda around or after mid January. This guy is a long time forecaster too so I do trust what he says. Of course that far out is fantasy land too.

Just have too say this Michael. The seasons don't come on like a light switch. They ramp up, peak out and ramp down. South of thee equator they have been ramping into summer, peaked out and are now ramping down too fall, winter. We are now ramping into spring, summer. The universe don't care about what we call it, meterological or astro. It rules and just keeps on ticking. Cheers
@PacificNorthwestWeather9 күн бұрын
Cant remember mentioning anything about season coming on like a switch. These are just the defintions based on time of year with regards to Meteorological Seasons and Astronomical Seasons.

It sounded like so many others who say; 1st day of winter, "solstice", or like Southern equitorial reqion, summer start. My winter here in Southern Or Cascade region saw its start with ice pellets turning too snow in late Sept 2024, nearing Falls end time. Your still the most spot on in my opinion on your Forcast's I've ever seen or heard,, and I mean that! You were born for this. No argument intended. Thank you Michael for all you do! None of my two vehicals one a 4x4 pk up, thee other an AWD STUCK VAN, have been able too see any snow covered ASPHALT for almost 2-1/2 months now. Thats counts as winter too me😂😂😂!

@@paintlady2268 An Atmospheric River is based on Vapor Transport, not intensity of precipitation. A "Bomb Cyclone" Doesnt mean "windy", its the rate of pressure drop and some areas nearby can have very little wind, some can have high winds. Depends on your location.
