In addition to replacing the short hinge screws for frame install; you can hide screws under the doorframe gasket for a seamless no patch install.

You should replace all the screws with 4" deck screws. All of the hinges and the striker should be done. It will be a lot stronger and more secure.

Hinge pins can be removed, thus allowing access to a locked door. Hinges should be mounted on the inside!
@garyandrhoda2 ай бұрын
Most likely, the door has non removable hinge pins. It will work fine.
@PacificPinesRanchАй бұрын
The door is made like that. If you check the bottom plate you'll see. It's not typical but we wanted it that way to gain more space inside of the room under the stairs.

Great videos. But use long screws and shims where the striker/where the deadbolt go in to the frame. Then it is harder to bend the frame for the door.

you should have bought the left door not the right. When there's a storm and it's raining or snowing hard and you open them, everything gets inside

Am I wrong or did they just install an exterior door with the hinge pins on the outside? Shouldn't they be on the inside so nobody can pull the pins and remove the door from the outside?
@PacificPinesRanch20 күн бұрын
Yes, but it was designed to be that way. The hinges have non-removeable pins.

The door probably has non-removable hinge pins. It will be fine.
@PacificPinesRanchАй бұрын
They are not easily removed, and if we did that we would have no space inside this room which is why we did it the way we did. I know it's not typical though. :)

An “external” swinging door”? Sorry but it’s all about hinges whether it swings internally or externally. Nothing to do with the door or frame itself. Regardless, you merely swap the hinges the opposite way to make them swing in the other direction.
@PacificPinesRanchАй бұрын
The door will not open outward if we place the hinges on the inside, which is what we wanted to save space.
@MikeWalsh-ui4jhАй бұрын
Just remember, if you change the hinges on the door and frame, you will have to mortise the new locations and fill in the old ones. Not that simple of a task
