Oh I know how you feel when you are excited to go to see your mom. I used to be the same and losing was the hardest thing for me 😢😢, now I go and visit her twice a month in the cemetery I cry and talk to her and tell her everything new that's been with me then after that I feel much better. RIP MOM.

If you like the packing cubes, try compression packing cubes. They compress the clothes even more and give you that extra room when you need it. Also, in the hotel I only put my clothes in the drawers in the packing cubes. For some reason it makes me feel better to not have my clothes in direct contact with a drawer that I have no idea when it was last truly cleaned. I hope you have a great time and avoid the monsoon rains here in AZ.

Slim packing cubes are the best! They're definitely the most efficient space wise to me, it takes more clothes to fill out the traditional size than I would pack so I feel like there's always wasted space in those - especially when you are separating into categories.

I use my purses as packing cubes too, especially “specialty” clothing.I leave in 9 days (eeekkk) to California and then WDW. I have a Disney loungefly and a Harry Potter loungefly. I keep Disney specific clothes in the Disney bag, because I will not be walking around San Francisco and Sacramento in a Winnie the Pooh shirt (I could but I won’t) and my deathly hallows and Harry Potter shirts for myself and daughters in the Harry Potter bag. That way I can keep those bags separate and not misplace the “themed” clothing until I arrive in Orlando and then pull clothing from those bags for 2 weeks (mainly). Also, I’ve noticed that packing cubes on their side instead of stacked also saves even more space. That is why those packing cubes are great

I do wash before wearing, because the sizing that they use in new clothes to make them look good on the hanger and folded in the stores will sometimes cause me to break out in a rash. So it's easier to wash first then have to use meds after the fact.

I have to wash my clothes before I wear them due to skin sensitivity. I had bad eczema as a child, and I can still break out with new clothing. I love those packing cubes. I think. You are lucky in the states where you can carry on these heavy bags, and larger personal items. In EU everything gets weighed and trust me they will measure if they even question the size. SAS during covid was doing a lot of shipping, so they limited the carry on to only one personal item. Even though I paid for it, however Iceland Air flew me home on SAS after being stuck for over 60 days after my scheduled return. We were only 34 people in coach overseas to Copenhagen. People were sleeping in the center 4 seats. I was worried about landing in Denmark, because having the US passport, but luckily I have my residence permit, and health card. I have not seen my mother since I took off from Seattle on July 3, 2020. I really want to go home and visit.

She can put a lot of tiny clothes in one. I can not. I am 5’7 with hips and L-cups. I wear maxi skirts, maxi dresses and wide leg pants in jersey in size XL. I can get one skirt or one pair of pants in one of the packing cubes plus maybe a top Nothing more. So they are not for me.

Regarding washing new clothes, if it is a piece that will come in direct contact with my torso, then I tend to wash it before wearing. oooh I like those packing cubes! I really think you had the empty space because of the packing cubes! I think it's their shape...most cubes are rectangle or a big square, but these are so small and also the way you put them in there saved a lot of space! loved it :-) And yes, I also always put stuff in a handbag(I don't have such a fancy one though, but still :p) and put that in my suitcase. But Jen, if you don't mind me saying a little 'negative' thing.... I always start putting things in my suitcases on the side where the wheels are... because the way you did it, especially with that empty space and the probably heavier handbag, everything will drop to the bottom as soon as you close the case and put it up on its wheels. But that's just me being me haha :p I learned it the hard way, packed everything but didn't pay attention to where the top/bottom of the suitcase were and put the heavy things at the bottom...or so I thought...and bam, everything dropped down and it literally broke a few delicate things and I had to start all over again and had to buy replacements for the things that broke(like the top of my sunscreen, a bottle of shower gel, those kinda things...it's also since then I always always ALWAYS put stuff like that in at least double ziplock bags! :-) ). But that was the thing that 'annoyed' me a bit here, just wanted to share that. (also: watch out whilst filming that the code for your case isn't showing, I don't know if that was your code, but ... you know... I always give those numbers an extra turn when I have it open.)
