Love all your packing tips! My parents took us 5 girls every summer on a 2 wk camping trip. So many great memories. I have 4 grown adult kids now and we did many trips. A little hack for you parents traveling with kids. Wrap up cheap gifts to open on your ride. I'd get new crayons and color books. Matchbox cars, reading books and little games. The kids loved unwrapping things. Plus it was a great incentive to be good. Love your tips and will be using some on our next road trip.

Frozen yogurt tubes work too. Try a towel in the bottom of cooler to absorb moisture from frozen waters.

Love road trips! When I was in the US we drove from Wisconsin to LA via Colorado and the return trip via Texas, Tennessee etc. I love the USA and miss it so much. Thanks for sharing your trip! You are so blinkin organised!

Here’s a little hack for the kids with the Stonyfield yogurt the one that you put in the cooler if you put that in the freezer and they are frozen then their Popsicles are used to do that all the time is it as a kid

You should take a trip to Northern Michigan with the girls, explore the Middle of nowhere, waterfalls, nature and the Great Lakes, or the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. I will be back in Michigan hopefully next year. I went abroad the first time when I was 13, with a group of a christian kids. Followed by many trips to different countries thoughout my teenage years.

I love road trips. We are on the east coast so we don't get the beautiful scenery...just traffic. But if you have time and you get off the main highways and just take the scenic routes or byways like the Blue Ridge Parkway it will make the trip feel much more enjoyable. Have you guys not visited the national parks out there? I would think Mike would love the backdrops of Yellowstone or the Rockies for his work.

My best packing experience I had last year.18 days Michigan trip and I managed with 13 kilogram, including boots and winter coat. Best trick, getting some supplies like shower stuff in the US, so I don't have to pack and carry them. Would you take your kids on a flight for several hours, like LA to London, UK?
