Glad to see you’re taking time to recharge. My mum passed away on Monday and I already had a spa day booked for next week. Although it feels overwhelming right now and so much to do, I’ve decided to go on the spa day anyway. I’m going to put my phone in a locker and just unplug. My husband always laughs at me for having a little pouch of band aids in my park bag - "But we can just go to first aid!" Well, wouldn't you know, while we were waiting at the turnstiles for rope drop at Hollywood Studios a kid in the next line over fell and scraped their knee. Their grown-up asked the Cast Members if they had a band aid, but they did not, so Jen to the rescue!

My dad died of Alzheimer's. I'm sorry you're going through this. It's great you're taking care of yourself. Try not to spend time trying to predict the future. You know from travelling - the best laid plans... Live your life now. Do what works for you but don't try to everything perfectly. You don't need that pressure and there's no way to know for sure it will even work. That stated, I'm planning a 2 week trip to Australia. It will be my 5th continent. I'm not waiting, since if I get it I'll be the third generation in a row.

I 100% agree with taking me time. I do it at least 4 times a year. Most of the time, at least in the last few years, it's to WDW but sometimes I take a 3 or 4 night trip to Jekyll Island here in Georgia. I stay at the Jekyll Island Club and just spend time walking around the beautiful grounds (used to jog can't any more since I blew out both knees), sitting on the screened in porch if I can get one of those rooms and reading, just relaxing. It's about a 5 hour drive from Athens. They have their own beach and have a van that will take you there and back when you want and have chairs and umbrellas you can use. It's just a relaxing place. Heck, I sometimes get a glass of wine at the bar and sit on the lawn and watch them play croquet, so bougie. Have fun and relax.

Completely understand and agree about being able to see! Always have a backup cause you never know. 🙂. Also the bandaids - we hardly ever use them but it is so convenient when you need one. I do tend to over pack those though. 😂

We are kindred spirits. This time last year, I was thinking almost the same thing. Yep, animal kingdom lodge after Thanksgiving. Last year for us was a very challenging year. You have the daily grind; just one thing after another. I was like I can NOT make it through the holidays without doing something Disney. So for the first time ever, stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and took upteen pics off the balcony and the giraffes. It was only for a couple days, that's all we could afford. But, there's just something special about that place. Have a fantastic time, YOU DESERVE IT!!!!

I’m so jealous. My husband and I had a DVC stay booked at AKL but it was still COVID times and the US hadn’t opened up to Canadians yet. It was using the “extra” points we got when we first bought. Now we go every two years to Copper Creek with our whole family. Which we love so much. But I still wish we could have had that AKL stay. I can’t wait to see your video on this getaway. I'm planning a solo trip for the first time in about 20 years, and I was wondering how you usually get from the airport to your hotel. Do you rent a car, take uber, or something else? Thank you for this video! I have a solo Disney trip planned for March and I am already starting to feel a little mom guilt creeping in. But, I keep telling myself that my kids (12, 10. and 8) have been to Disney twice along with many other vacations in their short lives. And that it's ok for me to do something for me.
