Should’ve at least had butterscotch chips and sweet condensed milk, no sugar. Then coconut or not depending on if you like it. My mom used to make these all the time. I love 7 layer bars.

I always grew up with magic bars but im seeing more and more people who don't know what it is and it's so weird to see something you thought was common apparently being relatively unknown

Chat GPT is what's called a "large language model". Basically, its fed a bunch of text from all over the internet and it looks for patterns. It then tries to predict what possible words would reasonably appear in response to your questions and strings these together to form sentences. Rather than directly copying one random person's recipe off the internet, it's reads tens of thousands of recipes, looks for patterns, and tries to make something up based on those patterns. It's supposed to try and copy how humans know things. We experience things, see patterns and retain this information as knowledge. Thing is, an AI isn't "real" so its unable to experience things for itself. That's why its fed as much text online as possible, to fake this experience. You know fire is hot because you can feel its hot, it just goes without saying. An AI has no way of knowing this until it sees a pattern of "fire is hot" data text, it doesn't have a way to experience the heat itself. If you were asked to make up a cake recipe on the spot for example, you would recall some of the basic patterns you've seen in recipes you've seen and your own experiences to create a new recipe. It's not as if you're copying someone else's recipe, or even copying parts of specific recipes and stringing them together to form a frankenstein recipe or something. It's just that lots of things naturally form patterns, so if you understand the pattern you can predict what you need and fill in the blanks from there. You know you will need flour, its just part of the basic pattern for cakes. Its not as if the AI stole the idea of flour from someone's recipe. You'll make your own judgement calls based on your experience and knowledge on what else the recipe needs, and the AI will try to do the same by analyzing patterns and applying what it thinks is statistically sensible.

I think the AI will look at a lot of recipes that it will think are for the same thing (like lots of different recipes for a victoria sponge) and then try to make its own recipe using them as "inspiration". So I'd imagine that this is very similar to an actual dessert that has recipes online but its probably not an exact copy of any of them
