I think the only way I can do this with no damage and no allies is Meta Knight, only noobs use Marx for Soul Melter, but proud warriors and brave heroes play as the masked swordsman. Zoro would be proud.

NOPE NOPE THERE'S A HARDER ONE. It's called Soul Melter EX and you can unlock it by completing "Heroes in a parallel world". you then need to go to "The Ultimate Choice" put the icon on Soul Melter, and there should be instructions for it on the screen. I think it was Circle Pad Up, A, and Minus together.

I agree for sure that some abilities make it harder and some make it easier. Plasma would make it easier/faster for instance. I've done soul melter with all abilities, but not without damage.
