Hi Mike looks like you have covered everything hope you can get the truck out of the shop with the bike carrier 😂😂on it have a lovely ride take care and be safe. Bob from the Isle of Wight

The carriers are actually narrower than the overall width of the truck. They’re pretty easy to take off, so they aren’t on there until Wednesday.

Only breakdown I had on a small bike adventure was a puncture wan't carrying a tube or tools but had a can on tyre seal which unfortunately didn't work hadn't spotted a tiny nail in the tyre! Thought of you the other week spotted a Chevrolet Corvair Rampside here in Nottingham England doubt many Corvairs made it over here and looked ideal for transporting small bikes. Have a good trip guys!

mike i would add spark plugs, rubber gloves, wd40, ratchet strap and some butt connectors and good crimps . could pull double duty and fix a cable end in a pinch. other than that you seem to have it. maybe a few hose clamps you never know lol
@MiniBikeMike3 ай бұрын
Plugs were mentioned in the video, in bag with other electrical. I’ve never worn a pair of rubber gloves, not sure why I’d need them. The bikes have been completely torn apart and rebuilt, shouldn’t be anything that needs WD40. I didn’t mention straps, but we have them on another bike. They’re needed for securing bikes on ferry. I’ve never used butt connectors, I can just twist/tape wires. I have multiple pliers, should be good. I don’t use hose clamps, but I do have wire, to twist into a clamp, if needed. I’m really hoping we don’t need any of the stuff I’ve packed….we’ll see how it goes! Thanks for watching and commenting!
@scottflint11224 ай бұрын
I think you're packing too much extra weight and parts that could be used to build an entire bike. I'd recommend an emergency kit not a complete bike. For example, carburetor can be rebuilt you only need inside components. Throttle cable a must, chain a must, tube patches a must, put the slime in now so in case you have a leak it might help. Don't carry a bottle. Hand bike cycle air pump is plenty. Lithium battery jumper good idea. Extra tubes, spare tools. Duct tape and pack personal items. Leave the other crap at home. Good luck!
@MiniBikeMike4 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, I don’t see your suggestions making more than a few pounds of difference. I can swap a complete carb in a fraction of the time of replacing parts. I’d rather have 10 extra pounds and make the repairs considerably easier. Honestly, I built the bikes, we won’t need any of this stuff. But, if we do, it makes for good video content, doing roadside repairs. Thanks!

I watched and listened twice Mike, the only item that came to my mind is a Volt-Ohm Meter (VOM) for electrical troubleshooting. Maybe you’ve thought about that already and decided you didn’t need it. You did ask us followers for thoughts. Looking forward to following along!
@MiniBikeMike4 ай бұрын
I had a meter in my tools originally, then decided there wasn’t much need for it. It doesn’t weigh much or take up much room, I may add it back in.

Hey Kirrbby! I think I did mention a roll of paper towels. I didn’t mention it, but we’ll have a bunch of ratchet straps on one of the other bikes. A thought about keeping the bikes and cargo secure when unattended… Have you ever considered a bike alarm? I’ve seen some than can be triggered by a person’s proximity within a set distance or by motion. Probably a bit late to think about something like that. Just another suggestion, if not for this trip perhaps for another in the future.

How many GoPro batteries are you taking? Depending on how you will record, only certain spots or of you're going to run it the whole time you'll also need a few SD cards. Make sure that you change SD cards every day. The last thing you want is for an SD card to corrupt and take all the footate with it. What settings are you running on that GoPro? That will also affect the battery life and heat generated.

I originally had a meter packed and took it out as I was laying the items on my table. Other than swapping out a burned out bulb, once we get rolling, I’m not going to worry to much about electrical. It doesn’t weigh much, I may throw it back in. I have no idea what route we’re taking. 🤣
