He left a HC job to be our coordinator because that’s what he wants to focus on. He’s a DB coach first and a DC role allows him to be more involved in that.

Very interesting and telling. So basically, he has our defense running at about 80% because he doesn’t want to put too much on our guys. But he’s giving more only when he’s sees they can handle it. That’s honestly great coaching. Our defense this season so far has had very few penalties. Probably due to the players not being overworked so they can focus on the game!

He is saying what I want to hear. But the big play was the same problem last year horrible 3rd down defense when it was 3rd and long. Can we get that stop. That forces more aggressive plays and we can buy in w our takeaway defense. Keep teaching those guys. Solid defense in the making.

I don't know how to feel not completely despising a DC lol. Caper's later years, Pettine, Joe "Worst Defensive Coordinator of all time" Barry etc., were all so oblivious and easy to hate, and Jeff might end up not being *great* but you can tell this guy LOVES football and knows how to coach up players and put them in positions to win. (He mentions that here as well) Barry forcing Preston Smith to play CB 50% of the time was so frustrating, (yes I know DEs get drawn inro coverage here and there, but it was literally happening 2-3 times a game under Joe) but respect to Preston and the rest of the guys for not complaining about that idiotic scheme and doing their jobs. I'm so glad we got rid of Zadarius and kept Preston (also Devondre Campbell looks horrible for the 49ers, also glad to see him go)
@Captainkebbles1392Ай бұрын
if THIS is the defense growing pains phase...then Jeff will be getting interviews by the end of next year i love that Jeff is willing to change mid game, and is unwilling to bash the previous defensive staff, just gets to work and grind
