Bought a Bellroy for about $100 then saw the Tomtoc for $30. Tried them both and loved the Tomtoc more so I returned the overpriced Belroy. The Tomtoc is made of good solid materials. The draw back of the Tomtoc is you can’t wear it as a fanny pack when you need to but you can’t beat $30.

I had the Osprey Daylite Sling but the high position that the front compartment and interior mesh pouch are positioned meant I often had the items in the main compartment jam at the bottom. Too much in the front pocket also made a wedge down the center of the main compartment. I'm currently shopping for a replacement.

I first bought the Alpaca Mini Tech Bag - Did not find the "perfect" place to stand up my iPhone Pro upright & my iPad mini fit a little to snug I returned it & got the Tech Bag (mid size). I have been using it for 3 months while traveling in my Van Conversion in the Southwest. Now I have the "right" place for the most used stuff ( phone - wallet - keys - AirPods - lip balm). Every other EDC (and there is a sh*t ton that actually fits) They all found their place -- eventually! Having a pen in the loop impedes using the pockets below it - so I don't use it to hold my pen or anything for that matter. You get used to reaching for the side grab handle or at times just man handling it by the top. I exclusively carry it a sling bag (on hikes, shoping & bicycle rides) and have no interest in the accessory strap to stablize it. Since you access the bag as a sling while you are wearing it from the back a Pro Tip would be to always access the bag from the back - that way with muscle & brain memory it facilities locating what's in the bag - For me "often' without having to even look - For Real Son... The ability to stand it up is so nice as the mini did not stand up on its own & that was a PITA. So - daily use for 3 months I am very happy with the bag. The bigger one would only oblige me to add more stuff in it. - so I'll stick with this ohe. BTW fully loaded the bag weighs 5 lbs 9 oz & appears to manage it just fine!!!

When talking about the cotopaxi sling I like the part about keeping your phone in the open pocket. But yeah it can easily fall out. It sucks because my first sling was one of those super ugly oblong chest strap things. But it's COOLEST feature was an open, phone sized pocket at the top with a button strap over the top of it. Just pop the button and grab your phone. More modern slings need that.

I wish Pack Hacker would measure the actual volume of these bags because the manufacturer's information is completely unreliable. I own the tomtoc bag. I was thinking of getting myself a small sling. Not used to wearing one and not sure about them but think they be good for Holidays/Vacations and Day Trips and excursions. I like the Small Bellroy One here as I have a few minimal Bellroy Products now including Tech Pouch, Dopp Kit, Key Holder and several minimal wallets aswell as an iClip Wallet. So I don’t think I need it to carry much possibly sone sun screen and wallet, Phone and maybe a small bottle of water on Holiday. I also like the Lulumon, Osprey and the Votipaxi is a decent size although not sure about that flimsy pocket at the front of it. I think the Bellroy could be the best all rounder for me although tge Osprey is kind of like a mini backpack so could be more Versatile. 🎒😎👍🏼

I love the idea of a sling bag, but the security on most is very much lacking. Which is very disappointing. You put a lot of personal information and important items in the pockets and then put it on your back without being able to lock it and/or there being any slash protection. The only “security they offer is a back pocket that rests against your body.” Which is negated when the bag is cut off your person. Or the bag is hidden under your clothes and you can’t get to it when shopping anyway. There are only two brands, that I know of that offer slash proof, locking zippers and RFDI blocking and they are Travelon and Pacsafe. And most travel KZbin videos only recommend Pacsafe. I don’t have around $100 or more to spend on a sling. That goes towards my trip.

I found the name of this video and this website in general to cater to techies and gamers when it comes to sling bags. Thus the use of the word "travel" is misleading. The bags are usually filled with techie devices most travelers don't carry when touring San Francisco or day hiking Muir Woods, for example. Where is the bottle of water, rain jacket, vest or extra shirt?? I've never carried a Switch while whale watching on a boat, but did have my portable Canon Point and shoot camera. Sure, some stuff is relevant like hand sanitizer, battery backup and lip balm. Just some constructive criticism. Thanks for listening.
