I've already thought of a name : MIDGE! And small little flea like insect that get stuck in your teeth once you walk through a swarm of them
@TeamPanicRobotics2 күн бұрын
Thats a great name! I've already fought this bot so it fought under the name "This is a soirée" because its basically a small version of my ant weight "This is a party"

Most teams: start out with ant/beetleweight, slowly makes bigger bots so they can finally compete with a heavyweight at Battlebots Ben: Gets rejected for Battlebots, makes a bunch of feathers and slowly descends into building smaller and smaller bots

I'm continually impressed with how much you can fit in a tiny bot.

That is a really nice build there. One suggestion for making the wire packing easier, would be to discard the JST-RCY plug and use the XT (balance plug) instead for discharging. Just use the appropriate mating connector ( they are designed for pcb mount only, but you can hack it easily enough). Most fleaweights in the UK are also run as part of a 2-robot cluster, so they potentially face 150g spinners.
@TeamPanicRobotics2 күн бұрын
That is a good idea! I've used this battery in ants before and wanted to keep all its plugs so I could put it back in ants I've ordered parts to make a new one and I might skip the JST on that one

Maybe your power switch is on a super tiny pcb, so you can mount a jst-xt connector on there?

looks just amazing- like when your zoomed in you cant even tell how big it is, just perfect size down of a great design. Perhaps you could add a bit of slippy plastic to front to help with wedging and make your drive a bit less sticky.

I saw it throw that screw at the end, starting to talk as it happened won't save you Ben XD just having the patience to buils something this small really is impressive to me, so you get a thumbs up. Although, from a concerned onlooker, those cells really don't look heathly. Maybe they always looked like that, but to me they look rather puffy.
@TeamPanicRoboticsКүн бұрын
it did throw a screw, but that was because I didnt loctite them in before the test I did loctite them before the competition with enough time for the loctite to set They kind of always looked like that, they are small batteries so always looked a little puffy

You need structural wiring. Means that the wiring will give stability to the chassis. How to do that? Well use PCBs! The motor is screwed in and also solderwd to the mounting PCB. And the ESC and voltage converter are soldered on some chassis PCB. etc...
@TeamPanicRoboticsКүн бұрын
That would have saved some space for sure Its just a ton more work to design and source components for maybe for the next one

I can't believe double sided taping the motors in worked that well. Also, now I kinda want to make an overhead saw fleaweight ...

haha nooooooooo! (also not sure how you'd go, the arena roof is so small one of your fleas already hits it) Yeah I kinda thought I'd need to swap back to traditional clamps, but I guess the lack of weight helped a ton
