I have some packing cubes but as a disabled person, the weight of the bag makes a big difference. I can fit more using them but can't handle the weight without drastically increasing pain. I'm working on building up the muscles that support my core in hopes that it will make a difference.
@EricandSarah Жыл бұрын
Totally makes sense! Weight is definitely a big thing to consider. But packing cubes can still be useful for staying organized, even if you don’t pack them maximum full :)

Recently bought the packing cubes to try on my next trip. I don't like my clothes in the suitcase without being in a bag of some sort, so am trying the cubes. Hope they work to keep things organized for me. Hubby puts his clothes in with his golf clubs, so if the weight allows, he can now use a few packing cubes instead of clean trash bag or large ziplock. I want everything super light, no heavy bags.

I like all my cubes to be different colors or patterns so I know what’s where! No need to open one after another looking for that 10th shirt… 😜 And can’t you swish your undies in the sink and hang dry since you’re staying in place for a bit? I love quick-dry Ex Officio, and I think even Hanes is doing some now. My issue is freaking bras! When you have a large bust and need a real bra, they take up room and are slow to dry. 😞 AWESOME pants!! Just ordered 2 pair thru your link ❤

I pack a similar amount of stuff but I do have some suggestions. I'm travelling through SE Asia. First, aside from lounge/sleepwear which is cotton, all my other clothing is quick dry. Easy to hand wash, dries quickly and super light and thin to pack, as well as, being much more comfortable in hot humid weather. I don't use packing cubes because the space between the cubes, and in your case, I can see that not everything fits together like tetris (cubes are askew, and they are not perfectly rectangular and flat when packed) which ends up being wasted space. Instead what I do with clothes is I use the lay flat method. I stack all my clothes - shirts, shorts, underwear socks, etc. So lay one item completely unfolded on top of each other - think of a layered cake. What this does is eliminates any gaps, i.e. wasted space. Once you have everything laid flat, fold to a size that fits into your suitcase. Any small awkward shaped items - in my case, sunglasses, hair clipper, exercise bands (I have the round bands with the handles) I put in the spaces between the suitcase handle. Notice that if you use cubes, that space is wasted. Once I have the small items in, then I put my folded flat clothes on top. When I unpack, it's much easier IMO to place onto hangers and in your wardrobe because you don't need to open any other cubes nor roll out your shirts, etc. I've tried rolling my clothes and I've tried folding items individually and then packing but I've found the lay flat method the best. Put one bundle in, take out one bundle. Bonus that your stuff is less wrinkled too! As far as fitting it all into a carry on, I've found that budget SE Asia airlines will occasionally check your carry on weight at the security gate so I've resorted to having to check on bag and carry-on my tech gear. BTW I also travel now with a bowl which is indispensable if you are ordering take out or buying street food to take back to the hotel. Also YES on the Vessis!

I was about to make a very similar comment before seeing yours. The packing in this video is 99% lightweight compressible clothing. The issue is exactly what both of us will run into. This is about travel for sightseeing vs travel for a destination activity. Most of the time, my bags have almost no street clothes. It'll be a GPS, binoculars, fishing reels and fishing gear, a rod tube, memory cards, laptop, chargers, maybe a camera, several pairs of sunglasses, etc. Most of my things will not pack in those bags. Even denim or bushcraft type pants aren't really compressible. I could use 1 of those bags for tshirts and whatever..

I am retired and do not wear t-shirts but button down shirts and sometimes a polo shirt and chinos or jeans no shorts. You 2 are young and wardrobe is different than me. I do not have a beer belly as many older boys do that wear t-shirts looking very bad. I do have shorts but rarely wear them. If this carry-on you must consider airline weight restrictions of 7kg or 25lb. This is especially foreign branded airlines. I refuse to use US airlines except Alaska as the airlines are being deverted for woke karens pot smoking drunk drugie or anti-Trump racist. Living in Asia now. My carry-on is a Mystery Ranch mission rover. Every travel now use wheel carry-ons. Wheels add 2+ inches and 2 lbs. If traveling to some countries have cobble streets or unimproved sidewalks were wheels are a problem.

I started using packing cubes cause everyone raved about how they kept things organized. I dislike them. You have to keep opening and closing them. Too much trouble. I just ended up getting a carryon suitcase that zips on both sides instead of just one. Pretty much all my clothes go on one side and extra things on the other. I always have room left over in the carryon. I never wear makeup so that is never packed. As long as my hair is combed or brushed I don't need anything else for that. I can do laundry on the road so I can travel for a month or more with just a weeks worth of tshirts and pants .. and I have done that several times.
