No matter how many times I watch these videos I'm always impressed at how you manage to make your baggage weigh under 50lbs. Also, I don't care how many times you do these videos, I don't care if they sound infomercial-y. I love them and I hope you continue doing them. This is your channel after all. MAKE THE VIDEOS YOU WANT.

I searched this packing video out because I am traveling for a week with my grandson and needed the reassurance that I can puck us into one bag to check on the train and each a small carry on to our sleeper car. Thanks Jen for always evolving.

I never get tired of seeing your packing videos and I love that you showcased new products along with your original group of products. And I'm always amazed at how you get all of that stuff in the bags (I'm an overpacker so the tips really help me. I don't have Eagle Creek gear but I found a group of packing bags at Ikea and I love them. Would have never even thought to pack this way if I hadn't found your videos,

This is meant to be a friendly suggestion and not hate. To me, a more generally helpful style of video would have been more helpful tips focusing on what kind of outfits to bring for a long weekend (casual, evening), how many outfits, easy ways to transition an outfit from casual to evening, types of shoes to bring, ways to layer for winter weather, types of toiletries, how to organize them. Other helpful things to help someone get around like a tour book, or map, or whatever. The possibilities could have been endless, or you could have gone into depth about things that would be actually more helpful to someone planing to go on a weekend getaway. Instead you primarily focused on the Eagle Creek Pack It cubes (for the umpteenth time) which is not really helpful to people who don't own them. This video could have potentially offered really good organizational advice, but it was basically a regurgitation of an Eagle Creek Pack It infomercial which you have done plenty of times in the past and not incredibly pertinent in terms of organization. Just my opinion.

I really appreciate that you try to keep us viewers entertained and I know that you love packing, so I think it's great you want to talk about something that you enjoy. But speaking for me, personally, I'm saturated with packing knowledge. I think packing cubes are neat and I would not know that something like that exists without your videos, but there is really only so much variation in dividing things up between different packing cubes. Something that I would love to see more in-depth is the actual contents one could/should/might pack for different travel occasions. Like planning a travel-friendly wardrobe or something similar :)

Also, I thought that since this was titled a "holiday" packing video, I thought it might address holiday packing situations. Some people have to travel for Christmas with gifts... a video on how to pack gifts in addition to typical luggage would be helpful.

I've always been a fan of Jen's videos. I was introduced to the pack it cubes through her packing series videos. The bags are awesome. My whole family uses them now. However I just feel her videos have changed over the past year or so. I know by mentioning these companies she receives products and that's great but I find that the videos aren't as genuine as they once were. I realize she has to "sell" the items in order to receive them but now it just feels like a sales pitch. I've also noticed that her first few organizing videos have been taken down. I guess the lighting and makeup wasn't up to her current standards but that's the Jen we all first fell in love with. I really do think she has some great ideas but lately it's just...different. Also, I really wish on her MHWL channel she would please stop with the baby talk. Jen, you're a smart, educated woman, we know you love your husband, you're sweet together but just be yourself. I've sat here now trying to decide if I should post this. People aren't going to like these comments...sorry. Oh boy..here we go...
@debiluv64
@debiluv64 11 жыл бұрын
I wasn't going to comment here, but I have to say that maybe her Videos are "different" because Jen has gotten older, grown and has learned to perfect her lighting, editing, etc.. Most KZbinrs start out small and get better with experience and knowledge. Sure some of the videos are sponsored, but so are a lot of others, Most of the products are products she has loved and used before, that's evident, that's why they asked her to sponser them..I don't feel like the whole video ever highlights just the products. Personally I have seen enough packing videos, but you can learn something each time you watch them..Maybe the makeup bag was better than the last...whatever,,,As far as the Baby talk..You say be yourself?...Maybe that Is Herself...I don't think she is faking that voice..why would she? lol..Anyway, that's my thoughts on the subject.. :) Happy Holidays!

I think Jen has grown as a person in an amazing way! Her and her husband have always had a very comfortable lifestyle and it's obvious that she can afford whatever she wants including the new bags. Who doesn't want free stuff though. I think she gives her honest opinion on whatever she tells us about. She has been an Eagle Creek fan for many years and has sung their praises for a long time. Knowing Jen I think she just feels honored to have been chosen by Eagle Creek. During this wonderful holiday season take the time to comment only if you have something positive to say. Jen doesn't make enough money through her endeavors to repay her for the time and effort she puts into her videos. She's an amazing person and unbelievably mature, kind and generous!!! Are all of you naysayers entering her contests to win the generous gifts she does during vlogidays? You are getting free entertainment people. The negativity is so childish. As though Jen owes you anything anyway. Try to spread good cheer and positivity in the world. It would be a better place. Love you Jen. You obviously have a wonderful life! What you give always comes back a hundred fold and it's obvious that you are huge giver Jen. Thanks for all you do!!! Blessings, Priscilla : )

debiluv64 Jen was much more mature in her older videos vs. now. Her lighting is really the only thing that has improved quality wise - content and editing sure hasn't. I don't care that the videos are sponsored whatsoever (a girl's gotta eat!) but how many different ways does Jen have to show her viewers how to pack for a _____ weekend before it's insulting to their intelligence? It has taken quite a few more videos than I would have thought but even committed fans are now opening their eyes.

Wow that's a lot of stuff! I'm a very light packer and would have loved tips in that regard. I usually try not to check in luggage when traveling unless im taking gifts for people. Even with my makeup and skin care i dont take things that i dont necessarily have to have or can live without for 2/3 days as i would rather focus on seeing the place im going to rather than getting ready and changing clothes multiple times a day. But that's just me i guess...

I enjoyed the tour of your new luggage and new packing tools. It takes using an item before you know all the good and bad, so I really appreciate and recognize the honest review. I think many of the features you highlighted are particularly helpful for those of us that frequently travel. So... I thank you for sharing a more detailed tour of your new suitcases and packing tools, especially those cool little specter folders! I really like how the folding board helps you fold neat and tidy and also acts as support for your folded items so they don't get all scrunched up and wrinkled. I also think "likeamystic" had some fun suggestions for future videos when planning various occasional trips, you might like to consider. There is room for all sorts of videos for your EXTREMELY diverse audience. Perhaps a more specific title would help those that aren't interested in a "new luggage and new traveling tools review" and might possibly cut down on the griping. Hahaha! I forgot where I was for a moment, as I'm afraid nothing will do that. I don't know how you put up with the constant back biting and nit-picking. It seems for a sad few, you can't win for losing, no matter what you say or do. So just follow your passions and enjoy making videos you would want to watch. Oh, and kudos to Eagle Creek for stepping up to the plate and recognizing a very loyal customer and valuable asset. I wonder if they truly realize the thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of free advertising you've already given their company and The Container Store, for that matter, just by constantly using, loving and sharing so many of their products. Anyhoo… great detailed luggage review!

Hey Jen. I love you and I watch all of your videos. However, this video was not a "Packing For A Holiday Weekend" video. It was a review of you new suitcase and you packit cubes. I didn't really get any useful tips for what/how to pack for a holiday weekend. But I did walk away knowing a lot more than I ever wanted to know about your suitcase. I think a packing video where you don't rely so much of "stuff" and maybe showed us what you pack might be more helpful.

While, after viewing, I do agree that it reads a bit infomercial-ly I have to say that 1. It gave me something to watch while eating breakfast and 2. If a company sent me roughly 1000$ worth of goods, you bet your ass I would thank them and make a video.
@heartmycrackberry

I also agree that the videos about packing are getting redundant. While they were informative at first, now I just watch them and think that nothing you're showing is new or different than what was shown before in previous videos. Your packing videos are usually 'how-to' in nature, so maybe it's time to expand on that and jump off into other 'how-to' organizational type videos?

I have travelled a lot & can now pack a carry on with everything I need for a 2 week trip so packing videos are no use to me personally. I watch these videos because I'm nosy & like to see what other people pack. Although I agree this was video had come across as very much an Eagle Creek informercial there are always new subscribers to Jen who will find these videos helpful & new to them. Not every new viewer wants to go back looking for old videos. Long term subbies should be more reasonable x

I enjoyed the video. I have never used eagle creek anything but the highlights of what they offer looks great but I would have to investigate prices. I read thru some of the comments and was a lil surprised. It's difficult to do a how to guide for other people. While it is interesting to know what someone packed and why, your needs would be different then mine. From my understanding Jen's channel is about sharing her life (adventures, lessons, organizational tips, beauty, etc) but she is sharing her life with us not asking for content suggestions however helpful the tips maybe. And while people may issue disclaimers of what there points are it's still rude, we all have options and sometimes maybe you should not watch every thing. There are tons of things I see on KZbin but not everything needs to be watched and commented on. Be blessed.

if her subscribers mean as much to her as she says, she should care about what they think. She should take into consideration what they want to see and try and accomodate. It doesn't benefit her to make content that nobody wants to see.

I get confused about whether Jen see her channels as something in which she just showcases her life for her own personal pleasure and no other reason, or if she does see it as a "career"and her job to provide useful content and an enjoyable experience for her viewers. If it's solely for her own pleasure and no one else, then you have a point, but the distinction is not clear as her attitude towards it does seem ambivalent. I would be interested if she would clarify on this point actually, because it is so unclear what her purpose is.

Heather L it's actually her 28th packing video, yes, I went back and counted! I loved the first few ones as they were all different, ie: packing carryons, packing for weekend away, packing for 2 weeks etc. I keep watching though hoping that I will see something different, new tips but the last few packing videos, for me, have definitely been redundant.

***** To answer your question she does this for her own interest.I made a comment on her blog a few months back when she made a video about her favorite luggage and carry on.and other travel items.I didn't see any reason to do a video on items she have already talked about over and over.She said she do videos on what interest her.So as long as she's interested in talking about her luggage she's going to keep making videos about them even if that means repeating herself.

For new subscribers to her channel, this is helpful and not redundant. I know that dedicated and long term subbies always feel entitled and feel as if they are the sole watchers of videos, but maybe someone searched KZbin "how to pack for a holiday trip" and this showed up and helped them out. KZbinrs and bloggers work hard and long on quality content and it's not necessarily about loyalty. That is just my opinion though!

hedi st I think it is useful information for Jen to know how her viewers feel, especially when there is agreement among many of them. I have been watching her videos for about 2 yrs now and enjoy them very much, but I honestly don't see how this particular packing video is different then the other or uniquely helpful for holiday travel. I got the impression that she was doing the video because Eagle Creek sent her the bag. I am fine with that but it would have been better to just do a review of the bag instead of another packing video.

hedi st After you spend 20+ minutes watching the video, it isn't likely that many people will check to see if their sentiments were already expressed in a comment. I also notice that many of those that commented also made suggestions on adjustments that could be made to increase the quality of the video. As much as you think we are free to ignore the redundant videos, then same could be said for our redundant comments, ignore them.

I really like those packing cubes and will definitely look into getting a couple. Here's a tip: I always carry a small bag on the plane as part of my 'carry-on' allowance. In this bag I have a set of sleepwear, rudimentary toiletries, a bathing suit (if I am going to a warm weather resort) and an outfit (usually a top, shorts and underwear). I was advised long ago to do this and actually had the experience of an airline misplacing my checked luggage. Because I had the small carry-on I didn't have to be stressed and run around buying replacements that first day or so while the airline located my luggage. It also leaves extra room in the checked bag for purchased items when I return.

In Jens defense, this video is not about packing lightly. It's about organization and items available that will assist in keeping organized. Hey Jen, I'm going on an eight hour car trip on the 23rd (to see the birth of my first nephew!) and my parents limited me to taking only a small duffle bag. I already know I will take up about 1/4 of the space with random stuff (I'm reading Les Miserables, bringing my stuffed animal). Can you do a video on how to pack the most amount of stuff into the least amount of space possible? W/o pack-it cubes.

When we travel my husband and I each have one carry-on and one personal bag for a 3 week trip to Europe. We both pack light and leave enough room to bring back stuff from our travels. However, we both use different types of suitcases. Mine is a Rick Steve's backpack/softsided suitcase sort of thing which I love except that it requires being carried at all times. He uses a Dockers or a Victoronix hard-sided rolling case which he loves because the wheels turn every which way, but it's hard to lift on to trains and buses (it only has two handles) and doesn't roll so well over cobblestones. I watched the video not for the tips so much as I know there will be a review of the products used in packing, especially if its new. I think we might check out the Eagle Creek brands as we're planning on our next trip and also going to do the Camino de Santiago. Thanks Jen!

I love that you shared the new Eagle Creek bags you got! I have an LL Bean rolling duffel (which I think you also have) but it's so annoying that you can't stand it on it's end so it falls over all the time. I might have to invest in a new travel duffel :)

I think the bag is more suited to a week roughing it than a weekend in NYC....nothing at all wrong with it just not very elegant. I love the regular Container Store suitcase but couldn't afford all the cubes......but sure would like to try them. Not even gonna mention the products you need Jen....

I have been following jen for a while and have purchased the eagle creek packs. Very helpful! Looks nice and neat. I just need to buy a luggage scale to weight. I always seem to overpack. :\ let me know of a efficient scale!

I love you Jen, and I always enjoy your videos. I do agree with other viewers that this video is very redundant compared to your past packing videos. I do think you're trying to tell your viewers about new products you've been using and enjoying, but since you really pack in the same way each trip, maybe just doing a blog post about new products would suffice. I've been enjoying your NYC vlogs though!

Hi Jen, my first time commenting. I love all your channels! I have a question about the cubes. I really want to use them especially to separate out my boyfriend's clothes versus mine. Last year when we went on a 9 day trip I used pieces of cardboard to separate the luggage into sections so he wouldn't go tearing through the suitcase looking for his stuff. We had to live out of our suitcase because in 9 days we stayed in 5 hotels. It was a challenge. Cubes would have been perfect for that trip. My question though is how do you deal with dirty laundry. Everything is so neat and compact but on the way back home do you put the dirty pieces back in the cubes and folders or do you leave the cubes empty. Does this question make sense? I think I want to see a video about what your suitcase looks like when you come home from a trip. :) I have a very similar suitcase as the one in this video and I love it! Thanks for sharing and keep up the awesome videos!

Jen...have you ever did a video on how you store your travel things? I've looked but can't seem to find one. I'm curious cause I don't like my storage for my travel things (including storing suitcases). And I take a LOT of your tips.

Does the EC bag qualify as carry on luggage? Thanks for pointing out the features you found helpful on the new bag. I'll look for those features in a more modestly priced duffel. For those of us on a more modest budget...the garment folder was easily recreated with a flexible plastic cutting board from the Dollar Store. Velcro tabbed folders look easy to replicate with lightweight, waterproof fabric used for windbreakers and a terrific gift idea. I like to keep my stuff contained as I think hotel drawers are likely rarely cleaned. I can't believe you didn't take a cube of electronic gear, cords, camera, cell,etc. We travel a lot for work and find it only takes moments to decant favourite toiletries to travel size 'Toobs' and use travel sized [folding] brushes, dental care, make-up etc. A 3" x 5" emergency kit is sufficient. We must be able to manage our own luggage so our rule is each item must earn it's space so if we don't use an item, it doesn't come on the next trip.

Yes it is similar to other videos she has done...but you can choose to not watch... Isn't that easier than being mean and rude? The are others who have not seen all of her videos...so let those people enjoy... Just be kind... It is easier....catty mean women are never beautiful... Thank you Jen! Ignore the meaness... It is not about you...believe me mean people are usually mean to more than one person...and they feel miserable on the inside...be proud of how much you have accomplished!

I cant help but wonder if this video would have existed if Eagle creek hadnt sent you so many items to review. Yes its part of the perk and yes the opinions are your own this video has nothing to do with Holiday prep in any fashion. WIth the holiday two weeks away you still have yet to post the other two gift guides that will be useless by then and really... all of this is better posted earlier so people could actually apply it if they wanted to. IF constructive criticism makes me a hater... oh well.
