I’ve made the very chaotic move from Italy to California and I can safely report that all my stationery traveled well! Phew!
It was a great 2.5 years in Italy. While the beginning was lonely and isolating, it was in that time I discovered a new way to journal and its now grown into this beautiful hobby I get to share with a community I am overjoyed to be apart of and help foster.
It’s not easy being a military family. I’ve talked with many other military spouses in the journaling community and it is so nice to converse with those who understand the demanding and sacrifical lifestyle.
Everything is temporary.

Moving is indeed really challenging especially for an overseas move! I can still remember how it was for us when we moved back from the U.S to the Philippines! 😌I prayed really hard for my stationeries and tools I decided to ship will arrive safely! 🥺 Thankfully they did! Hope the move goes well for you as well!

Good luck with your move Jasmine! It’s hard and exciting at the same time. We moved 18 times in the last 30 years … we finally settled when my husband retired which only lasted 4 years. As civilians we now have moved another 2 times and now live in Germany soon moving to Belgium. I’m sure this is not your last move. Enjoy it! It’s amazing how much stuff we accumulate haha. Love your videos!

Thank you for showing us how you packed your stationery for moving overseas! I hope you have a great time in California and will cherish the moment of Italian life. What a lovely treasure you have documented in these journals. My daughter is about the same age as yours and she already have her own journal as well! It's the cutest ❤❤

I’m so happy my daughter that’s picked up a love for journaling as well. It’s why I am so determined to keep up my 5 Year journal! It will carry in it so many moves and all the changes in the toddler to school age years!

Good luck on your move! I filmed flip throughs of my journals that I was shipping, just in case something happened. Made me a lot less anxious about it all.

Yes! I’ve scanned my journals into PDFs but I actually haven’t done it for my most recent ones! I hope they make it safely and then I’ll need to scan them asap!

I found patches on Etsy and had a friend sew them on with materials made for leatherwork. It could be done with BK but it’s adds up quick!

How did you like living overseas?? My husband is military too

Living overseas without children and then with children was so different! It also depends where you are! We did enjoy both overseas duty stations we had but we were in Japan without children and Italy with children. Given we are from big close knit families we knew being stateside was best for us. I would not give up our overseas experiences for anything though! My best recommendation now is to not get blindsided about the allure of living overseas. Join fb groups of that base and find out what they struggle with and complain about. It sounds negative but once you can accept those things before getting there, you can make it the positive experience you want it to be!
