Seeing this made me realize that it was time to get rid of that large box of "projects" that I have. In this box I have papers, notebooks and other things that i've hoarded since I was pregnant with my son. I'm 50 and my son is 28 years old. Yeah its time!

Highly enjoy this series with you both!! And love the ideas for next episodes too 🎉 After a couple years in, I definitely feel less “pull” to need to get everything to build my collection and set a budget but you know my weakness is PET rolls and leather covers 😂 Plus I’m also a hoarder and can’t let go of things “in case I need it or use that size again later.” Trying to be more mindful this year and continuing to hear you talk about it definitely helps! Thx you both for sharing so much! 💓💓

I've learned a lot... Stacy's so cute when she's so excited sharing something.. Has she tried bible highlighter? Not sure tho if they have the colors that she wants but I know the pastel muted ones, I have. So cheap, I got them from Amazon. I've been on a low buy since last year & it worked but so hard. I didn't have any rules or exception like you & I like the idea so, I may have to think hard about it for my list. I also have a hard time selling things. And I was one of those who responded to your IG stories to make a video on how to sell for beginners like me. I'm more of a hoarder to be honest. I have a lot of statio items that I haven't even used. Most of my fountain pens I haven't even used. Maybe cz I was moving places. And since then I still haven't really organized all my stuff. And I do not have a decent desk to organize everything. Sigh...

I am all for small businesses, but some of the prices for more common items are so much cheaper on amazon and "free shipping" if you have prime which I know is technically is 130 ish prepaid shipping, but I uses their photo storage as well, so not too bad

When you think of yourself as only a “writer” then yes, all you need is pen and paper. Then when you realize you’re a creative and an artist too, then you need more than pen and paper. As our interests and selves evolve, I feel that our materials also change.

Not to sound corny but I am so proud of you. I honestly wish I could follow your lead but I am (and Im not gonna lie) so weak! Especially now that I am not working. I decided to put myself in a pre-retirement mode and it has been so rough. I think i am buying more now then I did when I was working for my hobby! My Husband is now realizing my extend of my spending because I am now dipping into our mutal account and thank goodness he hasnt said anything yet but I know the talk will be coming soon. Thank you for the shout out and thank you for being so honest and true to the subject that no one wants to talk about.

Ive been a hoarder all my life and two weeks ago I finally saw how much of an eyesore and hindrance all my stuff is. I've started decluttering every thing I own, its been a slow process but it's so freeing to get rid of things physically and mentally. So glad I came across this video and I'll be listening to this on repeat while working through my piles. Good luck w the no buy 2025 and your own decluttering journey.

Thank you for this video. It was very timely for me. You have motivated me to go through my stash in a similar way. I had unsubscribed from all planner/journal channels because I am susceptible to influence and am working on a stationery no buy- use my stash year. So far, so good! I am allowing myself only one fountain pen purchase if there is a Sailor Pro Gear Slim or Pilot Vanishing Point Decimo released that I like. I am allowing myself to purchase from the October 2026 Hobonichi release. My rule is that everything must be paid for at the time of purchase. No monthly payment options. And, the above exception purchases must be saved for or paid for with "found money" (gift cards, rebate cards, etc.). Good luck on your year. I subscribed to your channed so I can follow your journey. Enjoy it!

I started the year with a no buy, shop your stash goal. I broke my goal on Jan. 3rd. The FOMO is real problem for me. Thank goodness I never hopped on the fountain pen craze; if I did I know I’d take a deep dive into another stationery category. I just subscribed to your channel today; I enjoy your content.

I always reach for my Safaris, AL Stars, and Lx.. I am one who loves the grip.. I had an OMAS 360 for an evening.. it had a crack and was a last one in stock. quite a few IKEA gear, you missing the skadis pegboard, that thing is quite useful for organization. I will also say don't try to clean out your own stuff on your own. Enlist help from someone else. Have them ask you when it was the last time you use this, will you use it, do you have anyone in mind who can put this to better use. etc. Worked quite well for me, clothes that is, I don't have an issue with stationary too much. I don't use a lot of consumables like stamps/stickers/washi tape/photo paper etc so the budget automatically go down pretty low. I only use TN yearly horizontal weekly along with A5 notebook and excel files, not artistic so no decorations. Also limit myself to only getting big bottles of ink I know I like on sale and pens that goes on heavy discount, like half of USA price (fortunate to have family that can get me japanese gold nib pens on the cheap). I miss out on all the limited and rare but it doesn't bother me. I have my grail grail pen. My end game pen that I paid full price for. The Montblanc x Naruto. Orange is my favorite color, that was my favorite show.

The one thing that surprised me was you saying you have to cover the shipping costs if you sell something secondhand 😮 I’ve been buying and selling stuff secondhand for years and never once have I seen the seller cover the costs… it’s always buyer pays shipping 😮. Is that just a local thing in California or …?
@journalwithjas
@journalwithjas 11 күн бұрын
No, the buyer does cover the shipping costs but pricing is generally priced to include the shipping price. So in a sense, it’s not so much being out the cost of shipping, but being out the cost of the item. Of course items should be priced based on the condition, but because so many shops offer free shipping, it can be hard to get back a reasonable amount back for an item that is brand new or in good condition.

Hi Jasmin! This was a great video, and i can relate to everything you said. I also live in a multi generation household, and i'm very fortunate to have a room big enough to acomodate my bedroom and my "office" area without any clutter, but with that beeing said, i have waaay too much stuff. When i first joined the journaling/bullet journal community back in 2019 i only had pretty basic school related stationery, and at that time its when i also learned about aliexpress, and the imense amout of different products that are avaiable. I didnt even knew what a washi tape was before all that. In my Country, we dont have all the fancy brands, and journaling isnt very popular at that point, so the only place i could find the things i wanted or thought i wanted was through aliexpress, so for a couple of years i was buying things from aliexpress very often. Unfortunatelly, since last year due to goverment decisions, we have a very high tarif tax on anything imported, so buying things even from cheap places like Aliexpress turned out to be too expansive (~50% tarif tax on things that cost less than 50usd and ~92% tarif tax on things that cost more than 50usd). There is also local shops that sell stickers, planners, notebooks, stuff like that. In some cities around the country ( Brazil ), you can find Daiso stores which is the only place we can get hands on different stationery. This market did change a lot in the past years and moved away from the basic office/school supplies. Not beeing able to buy things for a different reason other than yourself, def helps to control our urges. Since that happened i slowed down very significant on purchasing things, but i still have enough stuff here to last years and years. Luckly for me, things like Travellers Notebook, fountain pens etc are way to expansive for me to justify buying it ( other than the import tarifs, there is also the currency exchange that doenst work on my side, unfortunatelly ). Also, i manged to spend less in stationery and focus in other things that needed to be done, so saving money is a lot easier when we have a concrete goal, no matter if its short, mid or long term. I'm on a low buy this year, so seeing others doing the same is always helpfull. Thank you for sharing your story, your thoughts, and a part of your journaling corner. ❤

Hello Gabriel! Thank you so much for your comment! I had a similar experience. I too started out with very inexpensive tools also focused around school supplies. My world really opened up when I learned there was an online community around journaling. I have had the same thought in where, it can be really helpful when the choice is taken from you, to not spend money. My closet example is when something sells out of my shopping cart-I’m almost RELIEVED the choice was taken from me 😆 But I understand what a privilege I have in having so many different types of stationery accessible to me. Your outlook and positive mindset surrounding the limited availability of your stationery is inspiring. I often see the complaints on social media about how something is not available globally or to someone’s home country. Your viewpoint is refreshing and shows your self control and want to applaud you on that. My motivation to push through this no/low buy is only strengthened when I hear about others also partaking in a no/low buy so thank you for sharing with me.
