Glad you enjoyed the video. Another good thing about Eagle Creek is that you can bits and pieces over time - you don't have to buy it all at once.

Yep, I LOVE them. I've used them on a number of trips (you can find quite a few packing videos on my channel). They really do keep clothes together nicely and they don't get all rumbled. So yes I can wholeheartedly recommend them. Even my hubby is a convert after we used them on our Germany trip where we lived out of our suitcases for 3 weeks.

I don't think they save a lot of space but they definitely do save some as the cubes stack so well together. The main benefit is your clothes travel well and they keep your bag organised if you are living out of it. This trip was in 2010 and I'm still in love with the cubes, having just used them for a 3 week trip to Germany (with a very small suitcase).

Erin's Travels Thanks. Packing cubes are folders and THE best. No idea how I managed without them. A few seem to have gone missing from our collection though so I'll need to repurchase them before our next trip.....whenever that is...

i love your way of packing! i just find that the more you compartmentalise, the more space you waste so ive reverted to rolling and stuffing and maybe using plastic shopping bags for undies etc cos the cubes just take up valuable space...im a shopper so space is vital..for people who dont do a lot of shopping o/s your way is excellent!

Those packing cubes are the best! I use them and makes tsa checks quick! I roll all my clothes, can get more in that way. Great video, nice dog too!

We used a variety of cubes. The largest ones are just called pack-it cubes - we used these for clothes. The next size down is the half (we used for underwear) , and then the quarter. They really are worth the money. Hope this helps.

@BritAlex87 No wrinkling to speak of. I'd definitely recommend them esp. for living out of a suitcase or backpack. It obviously takes a bit more time when packing but the clothes stay together so well and it's so easy to find everything without making a bit mess. Hope this helps.

If your cubes are full it's great. Often I don't end up using the cubes to come home and just roll everything as you said. I used the cubes on a recent trip to Germany where we only had one med. bag, so couldn't do much shopping and we lived out of our bags for 3 weeks. I don't think I would have survived without the cubes :-). Even my hubby is a convert after that trip :-).

You could try using disposable shower caps to cover the soles of your shoes, most are usually stretchable enough to cover the entire pair of shoes, even boots. Those save space in your bag, and easy enough to find in hotels. I've been using those for years now and they're awesome. :)
@LibbyWithnall
@LibbyWithnall 11 жыл бұрын
Good point. I do try to put most of the soles on the bottom of the bag but it really wouldn't be much work to put them in plastic bags. I'll try and remember to do that next time. Thanks :-).

Awesome job.. for your jackets, Eagle Creek has compression bags that are great for packing your jackets in, and compressing the air out so it's a fraction of the size. I use them for my packing and it works fairly well. They also have shoe sacs that you can put your shoes into so the dirt and smell doesn't get all over your other items.. :) Hope this helps!

I use plastic vacuum bags that you roll the air out of - costs very little and the large size will take a large parka, a wool jacket, 3 cardies, 2 winter hats and 3 pairs of mittens. The bag will be around 2 inches thick so it will slide into the front pocket of a suitcase! =)

Enjoyed your video, thanks. Loved your idea of colour coding for the family - a smart Mum. Packing cubes are great aids. As a fellow blogger I’m concerned that you did not weigh your bags and hoped yours would be within your 23kg. Too many packing cubes can seduce you into packing tight & no so light! Things were looking cramped! I use packing lists, with individual weights. This eliminates the surprise element from last minute packing and overflowing bags. It removes the emotion when deciding what goes and what stays. It's also a good idea to leave a little room for holiday purchases etc. Happy & safe travels.

Glad you enjoyed the video. Not sure if we weighed our bags back then but we certainly do now - esp. on the way home when they are packed full. We take some travel scales with us to make sure :-). On our most recent trip to the USA we took two empty bags so we had plenty of room for purchases.

great job, especially organizing for 4 people. I think the cubes are perfect for any length trip. I also use shoe bags, they keep everything in the suitcase clean & if you use different colored bags ,you know exactly which shoes you are grabbing. You can get a variety of shoes bags on Amazon.com ,or Magellan.com. Thanks for all the tips.

You have a very good idea but one thing that I don't do when i packed my luggage is leaving my shoes unpack. Because shoes are dirty and it could leave dirts on our clothes in the luggage and the luggage. I know some people kept their shoes in the handbag without a bag and mixed it up with their other stuff in the handbag. So i told her to wrap it up in a plastic bag first but she disagree. She should be aware of germs and bacteria coz after all she's a nurse.

I'm lucky enough that my parents live next door and look after our dogs. If we are all away together we have a family friend who will stay at our home with the dogs. If you don't have anyone available you can look into boarding kennels.

I'm sure that would work fine but with the cubes you can even leave them open (tops fold back) so you don't need to get everything out. I've used them for a number of trips now - long and short and just love them. ```````12mg

I don't find it a hassel and it's definitely well worth it when taking a long haul flight from Australia - when my clothes might be packed in a bag for up to 48 hrs. If travelling locally I just tend to fold clothes and put them in the cubes. For this trip in particular it worked great for living in a motorhome for 3 weeks - we could leave our clothes in the cubes and easily find what we wanted. Thanks for watching :-).
