Mate great review. As a JQ 787 Captain excellent background work something almost no other reviewer cares about, outstanding. We are looking forward to the cabin refit. We loved by that i mean my wife is a CM that you had your meal prior to Sydney as opposed to waiting an hour for your first drink if flying with others. The flight number 1 thing was spot on with one additional thing that Melbourne is JQ’s financial headquarters so as you said the number 1 is about location location. Anyway solid review and two new fans, cheers.

I am QF LT GOLD and rarely get great service in all classes and flew regularly out of Asia and HKG for 25 years and fly Jetstar all the time as no carry on ,reasonable fares and polite, efficient service. Captain above is correct about JQ. I love them,can use lounges,get points and fly to Asia in both classes for less than half the trip. Very smooth and pleasant experiences compared to QF. Safe travels.

I flew Jetstar for the 1st time last May from Honolulu to Sydney and the flight is good and okay, 10 hours and 1 way, I pay less than $300 on a 10 hour flight from Honolulu to Sydney and it's very cheap, but not the best.
@deepaksubramony54386 ай бұрын
Indeed, Jetstar and Scoot use the 2-3-2 recliners layout for their "business" class, while full-service airlines use the exact same layout for their premium economy class. For those looking to fly premium economy on any full-service carrier, I recommend sticking to either the 787 or the upper deck of the A380, because they have the 2-3-2 layout with a 19-inch seat width. Another great option is the A380 lower deck (found on SQ and EK, foe example) which is 2-4-2 but with an even wider 19.5-inch seat width. Meanwhile, the A330 also does 2-3-2 in premium economy, but with a smaller 18.5-inch seat width due to its narrower fuselage. Finally, on 777s and A350s premium economy is always 2-4-2 with an 18.5-inch seat width, which makes both of them the least desirable option. In fact the A350 is the worse of two because it has narrower aisles in premium economy to accommodate the 2-4-2 layout ... But that is offset by it being a far quieter plane than the extremely loud 777, and it's pressurization at 6,000 ft instead of 8,000 ft.

9:25, I agree. 15:01, Yes it counts as a trans Pacific flight, but you lose 1 day when you fly from Hawaii to Australia, even though it's a morning and daytime flight. How many hours did you sleep on the plane?
@vinniechudam18356 ай бұрын
Great review. Flew on Jetstar's second longest route a few months ago from Sydney to Seoul, which is only a few hundred miles shorter than HNL. I set my standards low, as in I expected Premium Economy standards rather than Business. 10hr daytime flight was okay, definitely not luxurious. I had the same seat as you 1A with a neighbour too. Cabin crew was excellent. No crew bunks on JQ Dreamliners, they opted not to install them. The last row on the right hand side in this cabin are designated crew rest seats on all flights. They come with extra recline. Thanks for the detailed review
@PatrickSheaAviation6 ай бұрын
Awesome! Good info. I saw those crew seats. I guess on shorter flights, you may be able to snag one of them for some extra comfort

oh cool you restarted 'The Ones' and ya, i'm also inclined to agree with your proposed rationale for why it's possibly named that. air vents are the standout feature here as cabin looks super worn and uncomfy but that lamb shank looked tasty indeed. i have to commend you on how you cover an airline's history and inject your own analysis. it is remarkably detailed and well researched; it really makes you stand out among others. btw i think we need more sepia toned or coloured cellophane filters just like that landing :P

Hi Patrick, Im new here and I have just subscribed. Love your channel. I live in Melbourne and I love Hawaii (the Big Island specifically) so much ,that I have taken JQ1 and JQ2 return 9 times in 10 years. Have had mostly good service and mostly on time. I have not paid for business class or even premium economy (we tough it out in exit aisle seats in standard economy) so it was great to get a glimpse of what I have been missing (not to much by the looks, lol). For anyone interested, dress warmly even though you're going to Hawaii, cabin can be quite cool.

If you like Hawaii, you should also travel to Tahiti, which is like Hawaii , but much more beautiful and not so overcrowded. And Tahiti is closer to Australia than Hawaii. Of course, Tahiti and its other islands is very expensive , but so is Hawaii.

Great Review!! Also the Max Business bundle you gain Qantas FF points and Status credits - The nice thing is that Jetstar Max bundle gives you the equivalent points of Qantas full fare Business flights, but for half the cost, so that is definitely a nice perk on top of the lounge access. Also the Max Economy bundle gives you equivalent to Qantas Flexy fare Status credits - We flew to the cook islands in January and got 50 Status credits each way, not bad!

Without lounge access , a recliner seat on a long international flight and this kind of meals it is definitely a Premium Economy Seat, not Business Class at all. Air Asia is a lowcost airline as well, but they offer at least angled flat beds in their Airbus A330 planes on longer flights.

You have a good voice for audio I was on the inaugural HNL- Sydney flight some years ago; not in the business but main cabin. It was fine, although Jet Star definitely has the rep for flights being delayed, and I often see that on the arrivals departures board when I am at HNL. Now I always take Hawaiian Airlines. I flew Quantas once, but was disappointed in the shape of the older aircraft, poor video screens and content and not much service; of course it may be different now.

Good review. The onboard service on JQ Business definitely sets it apart from Scoot and AirAsiaX (AirAsiaX has a better seat with an angled lie flat). Interestingly when Jetstar launched international this cabin was call StarClass, which i think is more apt.. but probably gets better sales as Business. Also Qantas FFrs get lounge benefits that othrr equivalent oneworld elites dont get given Jetstar isnt part of oneworld. (Afaik similar with BA and Level and Aer Lingus)

Don't stress out young man anybody. Even you can get food poisoning in those extreme heat conditions. You just have to be careful what you read and how it's been refrigerated and how long it can be left out without being in the refrigerator after you eat main meal. Maybe you get some leftovers as we sit here in the United States and you get a doggy bag. Also when we're saying yes thanks and you bring it home

Qantas’ flight to HNL has always been QF3, so the first flight to the USA was made JQ3 for familiarity. JQ1 was random but seemed to fit the MEL HO as QF1 is SYD to LHR which JQ will never operate. A tipi, if I may, when you say Qantas don’t pronounce it QantasEZZ, it’s very grating. If the word end in s the single apostrophe after the s means you don’t need to do that. Maybe it’s an Australian English vs US English thing??

When JQ launched their long haul fleet, initially A330s because of the delays with the B787s, what is know as business class was called Star Class because it wasn’t business class. I think it confused customers who just referred to business class. Personally, they should call it premium economy.
