I respect all the great guitarists, who are many. But listen how clean, non-aggressive, confident playing. Arguably one of the best.

As far as Traditional Flamenco goes, There is no one whom I have heard or seen in concert who plays with such sublime beauty and exacting compass' as does Paco Pena. He is never overly busy with his playing, always realizing that the silence and where the next note is placed is of extreme importance in rendering the true flamenco feeling. I would love to meet him one day!

As a flamenco guitarist, it was one of the greatest honors of my life to handshake this incredibly wise and humble mano in Holland a couple of months ago. He's not only a guitar virtuoso, but also an incredibly nice person to talk to. For me, he is the greatest guitarist and visionary in the history of Flamenco after Sabicas, along with Niño Miguel. I deeply admire how these artists excelled while staying true to PURE Flamenco.

Such a fanatstic composition and performance... especially from minute 3:30... very nice sort of arab/moorish sound. This is one of the tracks that got me hooked on flamenco in the first place.

It's not 'all' about dedication, the upper limit of what you're capable of will ultimately be set by your musical talent. That's what sets Pena, De Lucia, Bream & Williams, to name a few, apart from the rest.

YOU are the one who gets confused! classical is NOT only a musical style but ALSO a type of guitar which has nylon strings and fat neck. acoustic guitars have THIN necks and STEEL strings! also, acoustic guitars are mostly used for chords and accompaniment while classical guitars are used to play pieces like this one and mostly flamenco. there!!!! now you get it?

@zbnmth if it's that easy, it's odd then that there are only a few class flamenco players (and other top class musicians in general). Besides the technical ability, don't ignore musical talent - that's ultimately what sets top class musicians apart.

It's not music from latin america, it's Flamenco from Andalucia Spain. Some Andalucians did go to south america long ago and returned to Andalucia with some latin american rhythms , i.e. guajiras and colombianas etc.

@gimpyjwilliams Idk about that cause I knew a 16 year old who was trained in both classical and rock and he learned Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai, and Joe satriani songs with ease, he also learned mozart pieces and bach pieces on the classical. but even he tells me that flamenco is muuch harder than that...

@@TomasJimenezFlamencoGuitarist Hi Tomas, this is Graham Newling. I've now lived in Trinidad for the past 37 years. I taught you my version of the Sabicas "Zapateado en Re" in Putney! I was listening to some albums and isolated recordings of Paco Pena's on KZbin the other day. Flamenco Paco Pena/(Paco Pena Flamenco) was the first LP of his that I bought as a young teenager. I was scrolling down the comments on this Tientos and saw your name crop up several times, so I thought it must be you! Are you still in the U.K? Paco Pena plays the triple rasgueados in this pattern: p-e-i, p-e-i and so on..this has been invented by himself (the traditional one is p-m-p sequence)...at the start, he plays the sequence of rasguedos with 5 strokes in each period,i.e. e-a-m-i+ an upstroke i! (the 5th beat)...it's also too difficult to play in such a lonag passage ...see also his book toques-flamencos and keep on trying!
@TheKenTama13 жыл бұрын
@KingOfShadows1500 You are still getting confused with type of guitar and the playing style of guitar. Hand Paco Pena an electric guitar and tell him to play this same piece of music. Would you still consider that Flamenco style? He would be playing different guitars, but he would he be playing different notes? The answer is NO. That is the style. However, the guitar would change from being an acoustic classical/flamenco guitar to an electric guitar. That is the type of guitar.
