I used to just sit deeper and farther outside than the mob and wait for that one bomb wave that they are all out of position for. Maybe only get one wave a session, but the fact that they were all so pissed off that I got it was almost better than getting a huge set wave.

There's a hierarchy out there, and a system. The guy on the outside doesn't have priority over who is inside. And only one surfer gets to ride the wave, otherwise it gets dangerous for everybody. It's called "surfer etiquette". Obviously it doesn't always work, then you get injuries or brawls.
