Here in Central Texas, some of the smaller lakes and ponds get choked with what we call the spring grass bloom. The bottom of these places just get choked with dense grasses and it can be a challenge to keep your bait from getting overpowered by the grasses. I lost my first lipless of the year in that mess, so when the grasses subside by early summer, it should be fine. What I absolutely slayed them on my first weekend out was the Miyagi. They didn't just hit it, they attacked it. The bites were super aggressive, and I mean vicious. I fished it half the day and landed some decent fish, mostly between two and three lbs. I thought the miyagi was too big when I first saw it on this channel (this very video) but it's not. It has worked for me even when the whacky rig was being ignored.

how are you liking that loomis rod? i tend to lean towards the dobyns rods because of their quality down to every little detail on the rod. i have yet to "splurgE" on these $3-500 rods...typically keep in the $1-200 range. oddly enough...rod hooks matter to me and i prefer the closed offset rod hook on the dobyns - hands down the best. not a fan of underneath lure hooks like on the SLX rods or loomis rods.
@DEBOSFishing5 жыл бұрын
It feels a bit heavy but I really like the power and action of the rod. Its supposed to be a heavy but nowhere near as stiff as a normal heavy. Loads well once you hook up. I bought the combo from a buddy cheap, this would normally be out of my price range.

What baitcasting rod would u recommend for someone who's never owned one and wants to do a little of everything on it I don't mind paying a decent ammount for a rod as I'm pairing it with a Shimano curado DC

Well I'd look for a 7'ish rod (I like 7'2" the most) MH Fast tip. If you use monofilament on there you can throw about anything. (Except really light or really heavy lures)
