Hey man before I watch the video, Is it better to have only 1 reel, like 7:1 gear ratio, and have 3 different rods? Or is it better to run 3 reels with different gear ratios and 1 rod?
@darthlunchbox53375 жыл бұрын
I personally think having 3 rods would be better. You can run a medium, medium heavy, and heavy rods and that will cover all baits you will ever use. For cranks and others that require a low gear ratio, u can just slow your reel in speed to adjust.
@fcyggcghhfhchcychhxhchqdbd33245 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was thinking that! But what line? You can fish frogs which requires 50-65 pound braid, which can go with the heavy rod. But sometimes jerkbaits are what they are biting on which requires something like 12 pound. What line do you suggest for the one reel?
@darthlunchbox53375 жыл бұрын
@@fcyggcghhfhchcychhxhchqdbd3324 i forgot about that hahaha. In that situation, if you could only really have 1 reel, i would do 40lb braid(unless the stuff you frog in is really really thick) and run a leader when you tie on anything besides a frog. Other than that i would suggest one spinning combo for 8 or 10lb line, then the other 2 combos be baitcaster, one frog rod and one everything else. But to answer your question, braid as the main line then tie a leader when fishing anything but frogs

Try one of the cheepo carbon fiber handles from Amazon, they're like $20, but are a pretty good value.

I'll have to check those. I took it apart and the handle wasn't bent. I stripped/broke the screw that holds the handle on. Put a new nut on and she's like new 👍 Thanks for watching man 👊

@@DEBOSFishing i was going to ask you about this debo. I have a couple of revo x's i use and my 7 to 1 was giving me the same issues when either froggin or flippin. I guess its just whatever techniques require hard hooksets. I suggest going to your local hardware store and buying a stainless nut. You can even find ones powder coated black. For me it grew to be an ongoing issue with the revo x and s that i hope they figure out on the next revo class since i love using this real for powerhouse technigues with its longer handle, large knobs and 18 lbs of drag

@@Mr73cheyenne I may have to. Interesting to hear you had the same issues. I may have to get a stainless steel nut instead! Thanks for the feedback!

I never had a snapper bite my lures, but recently had a loon steal a brook trout out of my hand as I was taking it out of the water! Then the loon kept circling the canoe trying to get the brookies on the stringer. What can I say, we are one with nature.

Interesting to hear how puzzled you are about the character of this lake. Do you have any thoughts or posts about what you look for in a good fishing spot? What is it about a spot, if you’re looking for a new one, that make you say you know I have a good feeling about this one. Probably a combo of factors, will be interesting to get your take.

Debo, I've had that happen MULTIPLE times brother. Luckily I"ve never had one cut my line like that, sorry that happened to you. But many times I've had turles chase my frogs all the way to the bank. And snakes haha

Once I was fishing from my Old Town pack canoe for Crappie Bass. I had a stringer tied to the Yoke. As I caught Crappies, I wanted to take home to eat I added them to the stringer. My canoe started moving but it was dead calm. I could not figure out what was going on. Then I see the fish stringer moving. It was a gigantic Snapping Turtle tangled in my stringer. It had eaten all the Crappies on my stringer and got its huge head tangled in the line of my stringer. When I tried to free the stringer, it went wild and almost rolled the canoe so I cut the stringer loose with my pocketknife as it drug my canoe across the lake. The one that bit your frog off was a baby compared the monster I met. They are smart turtles, no one ever fished this lake with a boat because it was a good long walk up hill. The road was gated except when they stocked trout or did maintenance. That turtle got to showing up every time I went fishing back at the end of that little lake. That turtle ate hand size Bluegill in one bite. I know because I started feeding turtlesorus one or two. I use to look into the eyes of that turtle and wonder what hell was it thinking. They are nothing to fool with and when they get mad, It is time for my ass to leave town.

Like I always said I'm going back to some freshwater fishing next week and will love the glassy waters and no tides or currents to work with, freshwater is so simpler and fun too fish in. Just a bit of a long drive from the ocean where I live for the real freshwater lakes, but will be well worth it next week

About two months ago, I had a snapping turtle blow up on a frog. I thought I had hooked into a hawg at first. I got it reeled in to about 4 feet from my kayak before he came off the hook. It jacked my brand new frog up. Bent the hooks and everything.
