Beautiful pieces. I saw some things in this video that I never knew about - and I thought I knew about knives! I’ve been a modern knife guy for so long that I forgotten that these wonderful old folders even existed. Local knife shows in my area have reinvigorated my interest. Thank you so much for a lovely video.

My dad had a wood box in his dresser that had knives like yours. He always carried a pocket knife, gave me one when I was about 7. Good thing my mother never knew the times I cut myself, until I learned to be careful. Thanks for sharing your collection with us. Best to you.

I’ve always loved these older knives. Reminds me of seeing my grandfather with his knife. He carried it everyday in his work pants pocket. Now I do and I’ve gotten my son interested in them. They’re just beautiful.

I absolutely love small antique knives! Please keep the videos coming as your collection grows. Your comment about not really needing to carry a big knife for daily use is absolutely true for the majority of us. Especially retired guys like me that have both the time and funds available for the hobby.

Only just found this vid and really enjoyed it. There's something very different about older pocket knives that is quite attractive. Quiet simplicity and class I think.

Yes, keep the old stuff coming! They usually have more character than the more recent stuff, and the quality is as good or better than more recently made pieces. Sounds like you got some good bargains, especially the "camel bone", which to me is really beautiful. Hope to see more in the future!

love the old knives, the character and period workmanship can't be beat. You can have a modern massed produced knife that is indistinguishable from a million identical knives or you can have something that time has imbued with its own unique individuality. My own EDC is a 3" Douk Douk so I completely agree about the functionality - at any rate if they weren't functional working people wouldn't have parted with a substantial chunk of their hard earned wages to acquire them. Thanks for sharing these and look forward to seeing more of them!

Rockwell hardness of copper wire is 40. An aluminum soda can is 28, an aluminum food can is 34. The newest Premium knife steel like M390, CPM-M4, CTS-204P and all the rest is universally between 60 to 70. 1095 possibly the most basic cutlery steel, is 56-58. So let me ask you this. What in the hell are you cutting during your normal day that you would need a $400 to $800 folding knife with the latest Premium knife steel? Unless you are cutting through hafnium you're probably safe having a 1095 or 440C pocket knife. Fabulous knife videos Paddy. I like the vintage pocket knives also.

Please keep sharing your antique knives. I love to see them and hear the history (that's the romantic in me). I like it when a channel "wanders" somewhat and follows the maker's interests. Hello Paddy . You were a wealth of information on the two knives that you covered , but I kept waiting in vain for a look and perhaps some info on the others . Especially the all stainless steel model as I have an IXL that is very similar . Nothing wrong with what you covered , but you simply left me wanting more .

Awesome knives and video! Keep them coming! As far as l know fruit knives would lose their snap very fast while used for hardness difference reason (back springs are much harder). Also from what l read , in England mother of pearl for fruit knives was processed mainly by poor women and it was super toxic so many lost their health and life just after a few years of working in this industry. Where do you get the information about such antique stuff?
@mercuryrising91744 жыл бұрын
I really like them too. I don't ever find real old knives that are not used up and really shot. Which isn't useful to me. But if I found any idea pick them up. For me shipping isn't worth it to the usa.
