Padma Bhushan Saichiro Misumi is a former Executive Director of India Japan Association. Mr. Misumi is a 100-years old Japanese national, who was a close associate of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Mr. Misumi was instrumental in inviting Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose to Japan in 1943 and organizing his famous meeting in Hibiya Park in Tokyo in Japan.
After the end of the World War II, Mr. Misumi became active in promoting high-level political and cultural relations between India and Japan and to deepen the bilateral ties. Mr. Misumi was instrumental in giving a boost to the economic relations. In recognition his yeomen services, the Government of India conferred the high civilian honour of "Padma Bhushan" to Mr. Saichiro Misumi in 2015.

A lot of Indians often look at America and Russia as a true ally, but in truth it is Japan that has given India the lion share aid and stood by us as a true friend. How unfortunate that the people of Japan and India don't even know about their cultures. Thank you, Sir Mr Saichiro Misumi for all your hard work. The time is not too far when Indians and Japanese will realize the true potential of working together. The rise of Asia is already underway.

lil bill You are right, Russia is no friend.Infact, Director of Russian KGB used to brainwash Indian Professors to promote Russian Interests in India and give up the ideas of Indian Development BUT Japan used to be our Ally, now it isn't. !

We Indians should be ashamed that we remembered him only when he became 99 years old !! In a way, the Japanese Ambassador's observations actually made me realize that we had conveniently forgotten this great person for too long a time. Conferring Padma Bhushan to him now makes no sense. He should have at least been given the Padma Vibhushan.

WOW, What a great man He was. Utmost respect for him. I always wondered how Netaji Bose got to Japan. Saichiro Misumi will always be remembered by us, but I do wanna say that this man served as a veteran in INA and was part of our freedom movement, the least he deserved was Bharat Ratna, not Padma Bhusan. I just wish I knew about him early. I mean everything changed after Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The history would have been very different today. Japan would have been a biggest superpower in the whole world. I feel so proud of Japan either way. Love from India. After my own country, there is only one country that I respect the most, and that is, Japan. Love you always.

His activity on INDIA ans Japan relation through IJA since 1947 can be awarded. But he had nothing to do with the Netaji and INA. Please read my eBook or the paperback book "UNKNOWN FACTS of NETAJI: JAPAN and SOUTHEAST ASIA" published by Amazon in Sept 2017, and Nov 2019, respectively. Since most of the WWII veterans died there is nobody to tell the facts. How can he said there were no contributions of Rashbehari Bose? It was the plot of CONGRESS to give him the award through Pranab babu.
