These excerpts for meditation have been taken from the text, "Self-Liberation through seeing with Naked Awareness" by Padmasambhava. Translated by John Reynolds. A text belonging to the same cycle as The Tibetan Book of the Dead, this instruction on the method of self-liberation presents the essence of Dzogchen, The Great Perfection, regarded in Tibet as the highest and most esoteric teaching of the Buddha. Teaching the attainment of Buddhahood in a single lifetime, this text was written and concealed by Guru Padmasambhava in the eighth century and rediscovered six centuries later by Karma Lingpa.
The full reading of the text can be found in my Padmasambhava playlist on this channel.
The PDF transcript can be downloaded from here: garchencanada.com/wp-content/...

I am keenly aware of my lack of concentration this evening, because thoughts barge in and then I notice down the line a ways that I’ve lost the thread- so I have rewound three times now. Its wonderfully close though because I sense the openness of consciousness as I continually wake up. I do want to practice more often and for longer periods, because concentration is everything ( I think.,.🤔)

I was falling asleep in bed when, for some reason, the thought appeared in the mind, "I'd like to get my hands on a copy of self liberation by padmasambhava." Similar thoughts raced in the normally quiet mind until I got up, saw I had a notification from youtube. You can imagine my surprise when I saw this video. It's literally exactly what I needed at the moment. Thank you ❤😊

I encountered this teaching a very long time ago, I think on my Lama's bookshelf. Understood what I could. These days I take in a variety of spiritual teachings, and in some way they are all pointing to the same thing. But nothing is as clear and direct as this, for me. My own mind, as it is, to seek no further -- amazing. The beautiful confidence and encouragement of this great master -- amazing! Thank you great Guru Rinpoche, and thank you so very much for sharing this. ❤

What mind? I jest but it’s a question I play with. A monk came to bodhidharma saying “please master, give my mind rest.” Bodhidharma said “Show me this mind.” The monk said: “I cannot” Bodhidharma replied: “ there, I’ve given your mind rest.”

Om Ah Hung Vajra Guru Siddhi Padma Hung Thank you thank you thank you sister, what a blessing, in every recording, but so much in you transmission of Guru Rinpoche. I am so unworthy, old, slow, and quickly approaching death. it is with such enormous grace that these teachings arise. Bless you, bless you, bless you. Without hyperbole in any fashion, I believe you represent pure grace in my life, and my practice has deepened so dramatically in light of your teachings and transmissions. May all sentient beings benefit from such grace. Om Ah Hung

I wish I could express it as it feels, the grace you transmit personally, and from these titular masters. It may seem odd to read in a comment, and I apologize for such an inadequate format, but when I was extraordinarily lost, unsure how to proceed, or if I could, these transmissions became my swami, my ShiFu. They brought my practice from the edge of perhaps quite a bypass-laden catastrophe, and was recommended to me precisely when I needed it most. Perhaps on some plane I will be able to adequately convey this, and find a way to say thank you. I'm sorry, this has grown awfully messy here, haha. I'll stop, but please know the gift that your show represents to one man, and obviously so many more.

Thank you, your work is most helpful. I appreciate also your striving as to keep things free and without a ‘paywall’. So many Buddhists books, tools, and resources are ironically kept behind large paywalls or within institutions; which I find odd as it doesn’t facilitate the liberating people from their suffering. So your efforts to keep things free are very appreciated, and I benefit greatly from your work. Thank you.

UM, Having been given the koan-like method of contemplating the meaning of 'the finger is not the moon' -the yogin and Yogini arrived at a cave in the snowy mountains, where all that was visible to them both; as they sat sometimes face to face, sometimes back to back, was the brilliant full moon. It's light shining down on the blue snow...feeling great compassion for them, the Moon Goddess whispered to them both simultaneously :Show me your finger, I'll show you mine. As undestanding dawned upon them both, they arose to return to their teacher. Their steps seven inches above the fallen snow, they descended the lonely mountain. Welcome to mudita, or joy, for the holiday season. Thanks KZbinrs
