Some people also add dermoplast or lidocaine to the pad for additional numbing power.
@trudyc14882 жыл бұрын
I just made these, without the spray bottle, so I mixed a couple drops of the lavender into approx 2 tbsp of witch hazel. I could make 2-3 pads per 2 tbsp. So with the Thayers Witch Hazel 355ml bottle, I made 18 pads. I used the L ultra thin, regular size pads (42 pack). I still have tons of the lavender oil and aloe left, so if I need to make more, I'll just need more witch hazel. I might use a spray bottle if I need to make more too. I think that would help spread it more evenly and maybe even use less liquid per pad.

@iamwhoyousayiam67733 жыл бұрын
After seeing it's $80/oz., I'm against it too!
@KewBlinkla3 жыл бұрын
I would too. I was so conflicted early on because I seen a lot info saying not to use them (because they aren’t fully understood and tested), but also that there was a lot of articles saying “we know THESE ONES aren’t safe, but the others we’re unsure. And this small group is definitely safe (ex: lavender)” But then here’s what I decided. I’m gonna follow the safe list. I don’t ingest oils. I use them topically (in lotions, soaps) and for aromatherapy. But I’m not going to obsess over it… BECAUSE we’re basically told we can use a whole host of chemicals during pregnancy. Things in our shampoo, mouthwash, pads, laundry soap, etc… to me theyre a lot more dangerous than oils. Can oils be dangerous? 100% yes. But from the “safe” list I feel better rubbing a lotion on with natural ingredients including eucalyptus and grapefruit than I do rubbing “fragrance, PEG’s, aluminum, parabens, propalene glycol, etc”. And that’s apparently “ok” but lavender “isn’t tested”. Know what I mean???
@jordanshaw55003 жыл бұрын
@@KewBlinkla Totally agree. Just make sure your oils are diluted before using, a lot of them can cause skin irritation etc if used without being diluted. Also you need to diluted them in oil... not water. Oil and water do not mix and you will be getting the oil at full potency.

I have found all of these products with a spray attached to them - my question is; is it all right if I spray it wet with the witch hazel then just give one spray of lavender followed by the aloe?. Also I have found the thayers witch hazel with lavender already in it, should I just get that one?

Though it’s not the same healing properties wise, using water would also work. At the hospital I go to they make padsicles there. But they are just maternity pads made with water and frozen in the freezer. They tell you to put it into a plastic bag then wrap in paper towel. Place in underwater on top of your maternity pad you are wearing or disposable underwear(like tens, always...for bladder leakage. But they are comfy and no leaks! And disposable) basically you are adding something cooling to an area that is healing. So even a cold clean cloth might work also, sometimes we have to get creative and a bit inventive when things aren’t avaliable to purchase everywhere:)
