Driving further North through some of the most scenic villages, we head up to Padum - the heart of Zanskar. We explore the main market - eating at restaurants, shopping for essentials - it's a sudden boom of city life after being in isolation for the past few days. Then we go check out some local attractions - the waterfall in Sheela Village and an ancient rock carving site called Gyalwa Ringna. And finally we head to Photang - H.H. The Dalai Lama's Residence in Zanskar where we get to witness a historical homecoming.

I walked the Zanskar valley for 15 days, made my way from Ladak to Manali. It was and will always be the most life altering experience i have ever had. This was 9yrs back and Padum has really grown since then. Cant wait for you'll to hit the valley of flowers and see how you shoot it. Thank you making me relive some beautiful memories.

A lot seems to have changed in Padum since we visited 6 years back. Don't remember seeing a single mobile phone there back then! But also good to see a lot of it just as I remember it. Zanskar was a special time for us, we arrived here in an Indian Oil truck, and there was a curfew. But it made us certain we were in love with the road and wanted to live a life of travel. And my heart sank with the title of this video. But good to see even Padum holding fort and maintaining its character. The Phuktal video made us relive our time there. We had of course, gone from Padum. The road was, in 2013, almost done till Anmu. Purne was still accessible only on foot. Can't wait to see more of Zanskar again, through your videos.
