Pagani Design 1662 GMT vs Parnis GMT, Battle of the Chinese made watches (Aliexpress 2020)

Lug to Lug is 47.5 not 57.5 Little slip up on my part ;)
So I have got my hands on the latest Chinese GMT from Pagani Design the PD1662. Bought off Aliexpress for £78 this watch looks the part. However how does it hold up against me much loved Parnis GMT which i have had for over 3 years and has been great. Why don't you have a watch and see ;)

@Grimwood Watch Modding, interesting review. The clasp on the Oyster style bracelet is called a Fliplock. Also with regards to clasps, its deployant (not deployment). Common mistake that people make. Louis Cartier, the grandson of Louis-Francois Cartier, the founder of the House of Cartier, invented the deployant clasp in 1910. The word “deployant” comes from the French word “déployant”, which means to deploy or unfold. Keep up the good work. Regards.

I bought a Parnis GMT a couple months ago, and I'm happy to say the niggles have been resolved. It now has a hacking movement, and the cyclops has increased magnification. It came with a Jubilee style bracelet that has a quick switch type extension, and is extremely comfortable. I prefer the slightly slimmer lugs. The lume is still pathetic, though.

I purchased a Parnis GMT sterile dial almost a year ago and I've been very happy with it. I received a Pagani Design PD 1644 chronograph two weeks ago and have been giving it a good workout. So far I've been so impressed with it that I just ordered a Pagani GMT from Ali Express. Can't wait for it arrive so I can compare it with the Parnis.

I have a Parnis GMT. About a year old and I am very happy with it. Looks great, functions as it should. I even use the GMT function!!!

The Pagani has an aluminum bezel insert. Only the black and blue/black versions come with ceramic insets

I have had the Parnis GMT for 1 1/2 years+...It had the older clasp with the odd hump...I specifically ordered it with the Jubilee bracelet...Rather than change out the clasp I changed out the bracelet entirely for a different Jubilee with a nicer clasp...I’ve worn it regularly… At least a few times a month. Never had a problem with the watch. Always stays at about 8-10seconds a day. I wish Pagani would get rid of the polished mid-links on the bracelets...They do it across their entire range of watches...I’m also tired of the Mercedes hands. I have a real Rolex and I think it’s the only watch in my collection that deserves Mercedes hands...Thanks for the great review!

My parnis hit is 90 click and has a logo on the dial. My parnis also hacks. Agree, no problem swimming with the Parnis. I think mine may be a more recent model as it has the jubiliee bracelet. I think the most recent version of the Parnis is more comparable, especially the bat man, which looks great. Both great for the money

Good job on the vid! My Pagani 1639 had a dud bracelet as well that actually snapped at the clasp because it was so hard to open. Got it on a nato for now. Looking for a gmt but not sure either of these will be my pick. Thanks for the great comparison!

I have the exact same 2 watches and I agree on the most part with your comments, however my Parnis does hack. The downside on my pagani is the cyclops is miles out and the case and strap are sharp in places.

My Parnis, bought 6 months ago, hacks. Cyclops magnification is good. It is not a sterile Parnis and has the (in)famous Parnis clasp. I saw some sellers selling sterile Parnis, but with some watches I really wounder if that sterile is really a Parnis or a random NoName and the seller just use the tag Parnis as keyword spamming because people search for and buy Parnis. Haven't hold a pagani design in my hands, but prefer Parnis. Less text on the dial and the claim 'design' alone is a turn off for me.

This is a great comparison. I think I would get the Pagani for the updated movement. I think it is interesting doing a comparison like this because the QC differences in these Chinese watches is really highlighted and I wonder if the failures are design or QC?

Good review. Which one is better looking watch, this Pagani or the Pagani Yachtmaster homage? Like this watch but the Yachtmaster use Seiko movement. What do you think? Thanks.

I want to say the Parnis, the movement is good. Honestly never had an issue with the DG movements. If you want a GMT functions go with this over the 1651. Have to say the yatchmaster homage seems better built even though i'm sure the cases are the same.

A 60 click bezel on a GMT is unacceptable, when bezel is adjusted for an odd hour difference such as 1, 3, 5... it cannot be properly positioned. Your review is missing the review of the GMT function, when travelling is it possible to adjust local time by moving the local hour hand by one hour increment, not loosing minutes hand position and not hacking the second hand like on a genuine Rolex OR do you have to rotate the minute hands to set local time and then to correct the home hour hand (24 hours) which should not have moved in the first place? How many micro adjustments if any on the clasp? How does the lume after 8 hours?

You can not use price here. The Pagani is new the Parnis is over 3 years old. The Parnis should be cheaper it is old. We always pay more for the newest item. Give the Pagani a little while and the price will come down.

The Parnis I just received has a very different bracelet. No shiny center link, different clasp, and much cleaner lug fit.

Haha i wish i did, like i say i love my Parnis and also have to take into account it is 3 years old now. Just personally found the PD a better watch but thats my opinion.

i wonder if you switch the bezel between the two of the watch because i like the darker bezel on pagani design... never experience GMT before. surely i go for pagani but not this model. for me water resistant is a KPI in any watch. i wonder if you check the crown action on both using the GMT and other function

The bezel inserts are th same in both s can be swopped out easily :) And i will be doing a full review on both watches so will get into the corwn actions tc within them :)

Definetely will buy Pagani Design pepsi version sooner or later. I was waiting for some nice gmt good looking pepsi and there was nothing to my taste including Parnis and others, but this Pagani just got it for me.

Bezel action varies with Parnis models. Think its luck of the draw what kind of action you get. Funnilly enough its the sterile sub in my collection, that has best action but keeps awful time sadly

Might be your camera-setup/lighting or my laptop's display, but the bezel insert on the PD does look weird to me. Makes me think of aluminium rather than ceramic - especially the red portion of it.

yes, it's aluminium. the store lied when i asked them before buying that it's ceramic. i just received the pepsi one and it's aluminium. (only the black and the batman are ceramic)

I don't understand why they can get it right on the batman but not the Pepsi. It seems like the new steinhart 39 ceramic Pepsi is the only Rolex pepsi homage that gets it right

Yeah these are metal inserts, the black andbatman are ceramic as side but when you get a metalic shine on them line these they are metal.

As a dive extension yeah i know the point however the last 2 weeks been working on a vessel so had overal on. Handy to just open up and stick over the top to see the time ;)

Hi Grimwood I don't like the bezel on the Pagani. It's horrible. It's the Pepsi model: can you point me in the direction of a ceramic bezel that would fit, Pepsi style, with a lume pip?
