Great review since I discovered homage watches from Pagani and others, I can't stop marvelling at the quality of these pieces for the low prices they sell for. I keep buying them and am tempted to add this one to the collection too as I can currently get it for the equivalent of £30 where I am. It's a no brainer really! lol

Beautiful watch! Bought this with the rose gold, black face with rubber strap. Videos don't do justice to the real look and feel of sapphire glass and the ceramic bezel. It's so much better in real life! I can't find any faults with it.

As a piece of jewellery, of course, the trophy goes to Rolex. But as a wristwatch, this PD-1664 deserves the winning trophy. It has a meca-quartz movement making this piece more accurate that a Rolex, a date feature, sapphire crystal and a big chunk of ceramic bezel. But they need to remove the starfish on the case back and replace it with a checkered flag or something similar, and that 'sport' on the dial has to be removed as well.

Two reviews already today! The rubber strap eliminates the usual Pagani bracelet problems. It seems Pagani may have nailed the chronograph models, as they are universally admired. This one goes straight to the Black Friday cart especially as you have declared it a Champagne Watch for Lemonade Money (CWLM). Thanks for yet another excellent review.

There is one major flaw that I didn't consider when I ordered the silver faced dial. That is legibility issues on the lighter faced dials. No AR coating on a busy dial with those tiny silver hands and, unless you have perfect vision, you're not going to get the time at a glance. You'll squint and move the dial around until the light hits it just right. The black dial doesn't have that problem as badly so I'm waiting for one on the slow boat from China, but it is an issue that you don't notice in the reviews where the photography is a constant closeup.

Thank you for watching Eric. To activate the chronograph hand one presses the top pusher. One doesn't hold it in as its running. When not in use its best to screw the pusher back down to prevent water, and dust particles in the air getting inside the case. The chronograph hand shouldn't be used for more than 60 minutes. Doing so will drain the battery life faster. It will stop after one hour running to prevent this. It doesn't matter where you leave the chronograph hand on the dial, 12, 9, 6, 3, o'clock etc. But they are usually reset to 12 after use. Regards, #WR4K

Thank you again, John, another excellent review. You are my go to Reviewer when considering another watch to add to my collection. It’s the meteorite or grey dial both on black rubber I’m now considering. There was just something I had an idea about you may know. I’ve a spare PD glide lock clasp from a spare oyster bracelet and you can buy Oyster Flex style rubber straps with a sterile glide lock clasp already on. If I’m buying a strap at 20mm is it possible to swap out the sterile clasp for the PD one ? It would give me more of a unique look from the off the shelf PD option and be more of an Homage. Is there a brand of strap you recommend in particular ? Also do the Oyster Flex style straps fit wrists around 6 and a bit inches ? Thank you.

Yes, the PD-1644 has a bracelet; the PD-1644 has a rubber strap. They are not interchangeable as the solid end links are part of the PD-1664 case. Regards, #WR4K

For reference also check out my PD-1664 silver dial version review. I have also reviewed the white dial PD-1644 bracelet version. I think the white dial looks better than the meteorite dial. The PD-1664 silver dial version is my personal favourite of them all Hugo. Regards, #WR4K

Yes Michael. The legibility of the black dial version is better as the silver hands contrast more with the dial. Although the sapphire crystal doesn't have AR coating and is shiny and reflective, it is easy to read the time in normal daylight conditions. On sunny days its harder due to the reflection like a mirror. Regards, #WR4K

The 1701 bracelet has sharp edges under the centre links, and pulls arm hairs; so the PD-1644 bracelet is better; or the rubber strap on the PD-1664. If you have a 6-7" wrist the PD-1664, and PD-1644 will fit you better. The PD-1701 is larger so fits a 7-8" wrist better. Regards, #WR4K

You can fit straight end leather, rubber, or NATO straps. You can also fit straight end bracelets. However you can't fit the PD-1644 bracelet as that has curved end links. The PD-1664 end links are part of the case, so cannot be removed. Regards, #WR4K

one thing you reviewers need to do = show the watch at arms length = most always its looked at from this distance.

It isn't viable to do this. Editing in 4K takes hours of processing as the video files are four times larger than 1080 HD. Therefore it would take a long time to edit in a 30 second clip of the watch at arms length. I film sitting at a desk, the camcorder screen is on the left so I have to reach around the camcorder and tripod under the screen to film (with my elbow bent). Therefore its not possible to straighten my arm and show the watch on wrist at arms length. Regards, #WR4K

Great review of a nice watch! If I had one comment to help out for the future, it would be this: It's somewhat headache-inducing to see the dial wiggling and rotating around at the rate of your words and expressions because you are holding the watch in your hands as opposed to it being still on a stand or something. There does have to be SOME holding it, to turn it over and show different angles of course, but it would be better, I think, to also have it set still for much of the review. This is something I see from many watch reviewers (not all), and I just wish it could be improved upon somewhat - that's all. Overall great review and many thanks!!!
