Pagani Design PD-1719 Review - Have Pagani Finally Nailed It??

What's happening good people, let's review the new Pagani Design PD-1719, a homage of the 300 pro. But have they got it right, or is it the same old Pagani?

I bought the same watch in the recent AliExpress sale. The bezel on mine turns too easily and there is backlash. The serrations on the bezel were roughly machined in places and there was swarf present and sharp edges. On the ring beneath the bezel there were five areas of pitting in the metal. The lume is pretty much non-existent. The movement is very accurate and the watch keeps good time. The strap is pretty good and no sharp edges on mine, and the crown screws down ok. On the bezel the black 35 runs into the lines either side and the 40 does the same with the zero. The back is nice with no sharp edges. The outer shell of the clasp looks a bit cheap. For another £10 I could have bought the Tactical Frog, I wish I had.

Yeah its certainly a hit and miss watch. Not had the tactical but from what I have seen, it is a lot better than this and the seestern better than both. Hopefully they'll sort it out, but I'm not holding my breath. Thanks

Definitely need a version 2, bezel and lume are the deal-breakers for me. Excellent job with the bracelet though. Good job with the review Wes!

The Original Doxa Diver With Orange dial was popularized in the Clive Cussler Novels,one was in in Dive shop He once worked in!

Really like the dial colour and the choice of movement. Strange that the crown is gritty as this isn't normally an issue with PD. Hopefully they'll improve this along with the lume and bezel, as well as re-design the hands. Nice work mate 👍

It's the second one I've had with the issue but it's usually a really easy thing to sort out. The bezel and lume really need addressing so hopefully a v2 will fix that and different hands would be great as well. Cheers mate

Good, balanced review Wes. Pleased they used the correct movement and for the most part it seems good. Pagani need to listen though. Lume is always poor and they just cannot get that movement to crown issue sorted. Always rough and gritty.

Thanks mate and yeah I know, we've been saying for ages to fix the lume but they never do. The crown though is one of the only ones I've had from Pagani with this issue.

Nice review, Wes. interesting they used fauxtina lume on the oragne one. not that it made any difference in the stength of it...the other colors use white lume and its still poor. interesting about the bezel also, didn't know about the "pro" model.

Nice review Wes! Little correction though. The NH38 has bi-directional winding. I really want to like Pagani Divers but the lume is just awful compare to others.

Great looking sub 300T Doxa homage. Would look amazing on a orange rubber. The hand set is pretty close and vintage designed and works well. The push down on the bezel is normal on some divers as it allows you to push down and turn to remove trapped crappie that builds up. Domed sapphire is out of place as the original crystal is flat. I have a 300T and thus homage is impressive.

Between the lume and the bezel, it's a no from me, mate! I personally would just pay the difference and get a Seestern, but, like you say, they might make some much-needed improvements in the next version! Nice one, Wes 😎

I wish they would be more consistently- it’s like a surprise in every watch, even in the same models, you get different things… not my main issue yet a good example is the case back. In first look it seems like a Doxa.

Although Pagani does make some nice looking watches due to being delivered damaged watches from them I’m not a fan, maybe at some point they will make one I have to have and give them another shot.

I got mine from KZbinr Watch the Time which will be featuring in an upcoming review. The only real issue with mine is the bezel. It's not the best mechanically but visually it's fine and the alignment is spot on. Lume is also not great but I can still read the watch after a couple of hours so not a complete fail. Seestern is obviously the best but it's quite a bit more expensive. I wouldn't bother with the tactical frog as the bezel isn't a true representation of the Doxa design and the bracelet is not a proper beads of rice.

I have the blue version its a great piece loom is terrible as always but I picked it up around £110 so there's value there the bezel does not bother me i never use them who does great review are Pagani actually getting better maybe let hope

I certainly see the choice of movement as a good thing from Pagani D. I can't help but think the seestern version is better. Take it with a grain of salt though, i haven't handle any of those watches and im not event 100% sure they are homaging the same watch lol That is what the internet is for after all: cats, lingerie catalogues and uninformed opinions in the comments section.

I think they took those hands from a Zelos or something, I know I've seen them before. They really have no place on a Doxa homage though.

I keep wondering how that style of bezel works… is it supposed to be two? Counter rotational? Do you know?

Its a one piece bezel, the outer numbers are meters of depth. Inner ring is minutes. It basically tells you how long you can stay at a given depth without having to have decompression stops as you return to the surface: "A no-decompression limit (NDL) is a time limit for the amount of time a diver can stay at a given depth. No-decompression limits vary from dive to dive, depending upon depth and previous recent dive profiles. A diver who stays underwater longer than the no-decompression limit for his dive can not ascend directly to the surface but must pause periodically as he ascends to avoid a high risk of decompression sickness. A diver should never exceed a no-decompression limit without specialized training in decompression procedures."
