I gotta say, when I want to REALLY see a watch, I come here. Your macro and other "B-roll" footage, are always crystal clear. With a sapphire crystal both front and back on a sub-$100 watch these days, there is NO excuse for any company not using sapphire on their watches. Absolutely none..... Great review BTW. I actually like the thickness of this piece. I wish they would redo the vintage AIr KIng, just like this. I feel like the bracelet was the major detractor from that model

Wrong dude. I love high domed crystals and thick small watches. And they are rare these days. This is how the Bubbleback was. The watch is a vintage copy, not a new thin watch. Small thin watches offer more wrist presence and are masculine.

Just got mine in. What a solid and beautiful watch! Only negatives are the lume (but I don't care too much about that) and the clasp which is really terrible. I'd suggest Pagani changes it for a decent glidelock for a few bucks more. Highly recommended!

The box looks more like that of an old Tudor of the 60s-70s than the modern ones today. I like this, because it gives it a certain "vintage" touch that fits very well.

I think they should have put a glide lock clasp but not the long one, or the flip lock with side pushers. The lume definitely needs to be improve, and even if they don't put a lot of it, at least the hands should stay lumed longer than the markers. What good will the markers do if you can't see the hands!? Also agree, the brushing is now following the same pattern throughout, I have seen in the past, the brushing on the case is vertical and the bracelet is horizontal on the end links or a completely different brushing altogether. Anyway, great review and strap fashion show!

I just got mine in today, and does anybody else notice that the "6" marker on the dial is slightly askew to the right compared to the "12" on top? It makes the dial look ever so slightly asymmetrical and I can't unsee it now :( do share if you guys notice this too on yours

I can't help but notice that the crown does not screw down flush with case. I received the same watch last week & it has the same problem. I had to change out the threaded crown tube in the case so it would screw down flush. There's another reviewer on KZbin that had the same problem.

If it weren't Pagani, this would be tempting. Highly impressed with the boxed crystal. Better than any boxed sapphire that even San Martin uses. High box, seems like slight domage too, though not sure, but if so, likely double-domed, as it is so unusually clear, free of any distortion. Meaning that is an expensive piece of crystal. (And then the sapphire on the back, too...) It's just the brand that is the problem. Pagani is just not a company that is as serious about the details as, e.g., San Martin clearly is. Case in point is the lume. Pagani just doesn't ever give a shit about this. And, it is this overall attitude of "just get it acceptable enough to sell," rather than "get it right, and then price it right to sell" that rubs the wrong way about Pagani.

Looking at the pics on Ali, it appears as if the crystal is not domed past the boxing. Just flat. Still a high box, and likely not a cheap piece of crystal. Impressive for them to use this on a watch that is priced so competitively (and, again, the back also being sapphire).

It's just lume. I barely get to see the lume of my watch because it's either bright enough where I am, or I am in a dark environment long enough that even my Seiko lumes are just gone. For a watch MORE THAN half the price of the San Martin, I'll gladly take it over that. It's (barely) a sacrifice that I would take over a $125 price difference.

I own a lot of Pagani's. I would challenge anyone to suggest a better value proposition: nh35 super reliable movements. The majority of the time have display case backs (which san martin never ever does). Sapphire on the front are rear. Compare these watches to: nth (which I own), islander watches, san martin, etc. Higher end mechanical movements are nice but everyone can service an nh35 and they stand the test of time. PD has blossomed into a really nice manufacturer for the money. A suggestion: drop the divers extension. And always have screws vs. pins in the bracelets.

@@tomcruz3774 I just received mine & it had the same problem. The crown tube is too long for the crown cavity. It will screw down flush if you remove the inner gasket, but then what's the point? It's not the stem length. I tried it without the stem in the crown,same issue. I had to change out the threaded crown tube in the case to a shorter one & now it screws down flush. Pain in the ass.

San Martin just added a 36mm variant, fixed the mismatched lume (apparently) and made a model with BGW9. it's your best bet right now...but nearly double the price.

can't make my mind up honestly this or 1723 in black. the 12 hour marker digits could put me off completely it looks as if '1' seems shorter or higher printed than number 2 in every picture i've seen so far of the 1751. is it really like that in person? how does the two compare, any difference in finishing?

Same in most areas. The 1723 is thinner for sure. As for the 12, it's not something I remember noticing in person....I think the crystal distorts the dial so much that I can appear that way, but it's really not misprinted.

They are so different. One is a large Chrono, ones a small field watch. I think both are executed well. Probably on par with each other...but they are just so different. Think about the size, and what you want out of a watch and base your decision on that.

The suede? Yes. Holding up pretty well. A little wear on the quick release buttons, but otherwise it's been fine. Super comfortable as well.

It all depends on the store. Thankfully I haven't had much of an issue with DoA watches. Just make sure to keep that tracking number, take pictures, weigh the package etc.
