Paganini: Caprice No. 20 (Shlomo Mintz)

This recording was converted from an old VHS, so not the best video quality.
Sad to say that the 24-etude set was not complete on the cassette. There were only Nos. 1-11., 13, 14, 17, 20 and 24.
Check out young master's incredible technique and the sound (especially for staccati, spiccati and ricochets), musically also intelligent. Recorded in 1981.

I have a rercording of Shlomo playing all 24 Caprices. If Paganini were alive today, I'm sure he would very impressed. I've never heard them played better.

Try listen Salvatore Accardo, being fair shlomo mintz "cheat" un some caprices like the no. 5 he dont play the original bow, salvatore accardo all the recordings and performance of any paganini caprice, concerto, sonata, theme and variations, etc, he played exactly how paganini wroted, he is the only person I have seen played exactly as paganini wrote.

It also sounds like the hurdy gurdy, and this, being a popular instrument in Italy at the time of Paganini is much more likely what he is imitating. I'm not even sure that bagpipes would have featured much, if at all, in Italian culture during the early nineteenth century.
