Let the series begin! This is the first of 6 episodes where we ride our motorcycles to Page, Arizona to not only explore the variety of activities in the area, but to speak with local historians, business owners, and others keeping the city alive with a passion.
In this episode we start off the day at the 19th Annual Balloon Regatta and experience vibrant skies with over 60 balloons in the air!
We speak with the Mayor and event coordinator to get some history on the event, then make our way down to the famous Glen Canyon Dam. At the dam, we share some neat facts and history on Lake Powell and the dam itself, before heading out on a scenic ride and later into town to watch the "Glow" where they line up hot air balloons on Lake Powell Boulevard at night for a great show!

ABOUT PAGE, ARIZONA
Located in northeastern Arizona, Page is known for being a most excellent base camp for exploring nearby outdoor attractions, including Lake Powell and the surrounding Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Vermilion Cliffs National Monument and Monument Valley. Founded in 1957 as a housing site for workers building the Glen Canyon Dam - which formed Lake Powell - the town has blossomed into a visitor-friendly community. After a full day of hiking, boating, golfing, biking, off-roading or simply Page sightseeing, the town offers creature comforts like nationally branded hotels, small inns, short-term rentals, RV parks and glamping. Places to eat in Page run the gamut from casual brewpubs and Mexican eateries to fine dining with panoramic views of Lake Powell.
ABOUT HORSESHOE BEND
Horseshoe Bend is a horseshoe-shaped incised meander of the Colorado River located near the town of Page, Arizona, United States. It is also referred to as the "east rim of the Grand Canyon."
Horseshoe Bend has become one of the most recognized and visited places in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. The parking lot and trailhead is located off US Highway 89, approximately 5 miles (8 km) south of the Carl Hayden Visitor Center.
ABOUT THE GLEN CANYON DAM
Glen Canyon Dam, rising 710 feet above bedrock within the steep, rust-colored sand-stone walls of Glen Canyon, was constructed to harness the power of the Colorado River in order to provide for the water and power needs of millions of people in the West.
Glen Canyon Dam is the second highest concrete-arch dam in the United States, second only to Hoover Dam which stands at 726 feet. The 26.2 million acre-feet of water storage capacity in Lake Powell, created by Glen Canyon Dam, serves as a ‘bank account’ of water that is drawn on in times of drought. This stored water has made it possible to successfully weather extended dry periods by sustaining the needs of cities, industries, and agriculture throughout the West.
