Immortali.

Very sad, Jimmy went to his funeral - another great loss after Bonham and Michael really filled the slot perfectly.

I saw them on this tour and was lucky enough to see Page with the BC after that. I consider myself privileged to have seen 50% of them greatest band in the world.

This goes to show what might have been if the keeper of the Beat, John Henery Bonham had not passed. This is twenty years out from his death, and 25 years ago today.

I nearly fell over with shock when I saw them on TOTP. Poor old Peter Grant wouldn't have been keen, bless him. He's died back in '95.

By skipping the intro of Most High, Top of the Pops demonstrate that they do not understand this song.

Yes, I agree... P&P were rather brazen in doing a blasphemous tune like this. Guess they ran out of ideas or didn't steal any other great ideas like Dazed and Confused. They should have kept it simple and Bluesy. But that would have required quality guitar playing and convincing lyrics . It was, in fact , the End of an Era with this.

Michael Lee is a great drummer, for me is much better than the bored Jason Bonham

Two things that I found disheartening about this project in 1998. One, nothing on the entire Clarksdale album had any really great guitar playing. So, that's sad to me. (can't play/couldn't play for real at that point?) ....and Two, at the time I found the notion of doing a song called Most High with the then signature "Snake Charmer" music which Plant was stuck in for way too long was in effect a dig against anything even remotely Christian. At least Stairway was thinly veiled in whatever weird stuff they were into. But Most High? But today it just seems sad, if not comical. What is that "trick" geetarr Jim's got in the video? Like push a button and it fakes a different chord pre-sets. LOL! I have a dollar store violin that plays Christmas songs and it looks as thou you're actually playing. again, lol.

The album itself wasn't bad. However, it obviously did not get anywhere near the production standards one would expect with Jimmy Page. But herein lies the dilemma. With Zeppelin (some pre and most post), the buck stopped with Page. He was the producer and he called the shots. With Clarksdale however, he co-produced the album with Plant who clearly had WAY too much control over it. Probably trying to steer away as far as humanly possible from it ever sounding like Zeppelin. Another surprising negative factor was the work of Steve Albini controlling the mixing and engineering stages, again, both departments Page usually has a lot of influence over. Despite Albini having an impressive resume of his own, he clearly falls flat on this one and the overall mix lacks the soul and auditive punch we're usually used to hearing. As for your "trick geetarr" comment, Page installed a TrancePerformance Auto Tuner. Push a button and the guitar tunes itself. If memory serves me correctly, I believe the song is tuned in Open C, which in turn isn't exactly an easy tuning to sustain and keep in tune. I get it though. As great as their 94 and 98 tours were and not to mention their awesome show at the o2, it's not the same anymore. So it's easy to nitpick what was, what is and what should never be.

Why
@albion70008 жыл бұрын
Because he was in a relationship with an under age girl for 18 months.
@kristinengel8 жыл бұрын
You mean under 18 years! Jimmy Page was/is know that he had a relatinship with a minor and Lori Maddox was one of them in the 70th years.Lori was 14 years and Jimmy was 33 years old. Jimmy was a hot man then with a beautiful smile and beautiful green eyes.
@albion70008 жыл бұрын
She was 14..Nuff said.

I think with 72 years Jimmy Page sees still quite good.
