I have mixed feelings about this presentation. On the one hand it is a fantastic photo montage of the life of a very singular genius. It seems well researched and well reported however to title it about the violence of the man was a cheap shot. What I saw was a man operating at a very high level of creativity who has all of us humans, had feet of clay. A personality that profound that strayed into overly sharp rhetoric and verbal abuse of others. When you compare that to you yourself compiled as a lifetime of excellence and service that benefited physically and spiritually to people all over the planet then it was very unfair to encapsulate this presentation as the violence of Jerry Lewis. You ought to be ashamed of yourself and if you’re not then there are some of us out here who see through you and your desire to gain a KZbin following with no regard for your tactics. Have you been more sincere about your presentation it would’ve been not just a good presentation but a great presentation about a great man who had flaws. But your inability to go for the cheap shot really characterizes YOU as a poor excuse for a human being. Pageofwonder 0:06

The times were much different then. A man of his stature in Hollywood and his adoration in the public realm would negate ex’s and even biological children as simply casualties. Mr.Lewis did more than prevent his sons by his first marriage to Ms.Palmer from inheriting his estate. He refused to pay any alimony or child support to his ex wife and his sons..one of his sons Mr.Anthony Lewis..was so angry with his dad..that he took him to court..and by court order..Mr.Jerry Lewis was forced to pay the back alimony and child support to his family.But..as a form of revenge..this lead to his cutting his sons and ex wife out of his estate. About the Telethon! My sister was the executive secretary of Sertoma which is a do gooder outfit headquartered in Kansas City. It was "Service to Mankind" and they decided to make Mr. Lewis their "Man of the year" and asked my sister to coordinate with the legal folks at Mr. Lewis' organization to arrange this. She contacted them and they were thrilled for such publicity and my sister mentioned that Sertoma would require a statement that Mr. Lewis was not compensated for the work he did. They handed her over to the Lewis legal folks. She explained what Sertoma required and the lawyer immediately explained they could NOT provide such a document as Mr. Lewis was very well compensated for the telethon. Their spokesperson went on to explain that they realized many people had come forward and volunteered to do the Telethon for free, but they would not have the draw Mr. Lewis had and the business decision was made to pay Mr. Lewis. How about that! What a phony he appears to have been! Uhmm?

He could have had narcissistic traits or personality: infidelity (narcissists perceive only physical part of love and sometimes are mad about it), lack of empathy (insensitive jokes), cruelty (harassment), lack of values (insensitive public comments, harassment), etc. His acting career, contribution to MD charity could be motivated by the need for attention (so called: narcissistic supply). I recommend anyone to at least learn 'Narcissistic Red Flags', look up Prof. Sam Vaknin (self aware narcissist), Dr. Ramani, Dr. Les Carter, Dr Abdul Saad, Ross Rosenberg (interview: 'The Ugly Truth about Gaslighting' as test for narcissistic parents). I'd say an extra prayer for him. Narcissists are living in fear, go through life using, bulling others. They know what is right, what is wrong, wouldn't like to be treated the way they treat others. The one thing I just don't get is the 'comic genius' part. I still remember watching 'The Nutty Professor' at summer camp when I was 10. I just remember all of us staring at the screen with this confused, are-we-supposed-to-be-laughing? look on our faces. After it was over several kids yelled out 'It's over - thank God!!!' Years later I thought maybe the film was too sophisticated for kids to understand and appreciate, so I watched it again as an adult. My father, as a Pan Am captain once flew Jerry Lewis to Rio and it I just happened to be on the same flight (first-class). I don't recall what caused the event, but,Lewis became verbally abusive with one of the stewardesses (as they we referred to at the time). Said stewardess complained to my father and my father came out from the cockpit, approached Mr Lewis saying, "If you ever speak that way to anyone on my flight again, in the manner in which you did, I will come out and kick the bejesus out of you.". Lewis behaved himself the remainder of the flight. I sat across the aisle from Mr Lewis and at some point he looked over at me and, seeing the smile on my face, he said, "What?" and I said, "He's my father." And I have to say, he took it rather well and laughed, adding, "I bet you'll remember that for the rest of your life." I instantly forgave him. Btw, I had no idea whether my father recognized who he was and I certainly didn't.

Over the years many questions have been asked as to what happened to all that 2 Billion dollars raised every fall during his MDA Telethons. Much of it seems untraceable. I read quite a while back that part of the reason the MDA dumped him was there were too many unanswered questions being asked about where all that MDA donations went? Supposedly much off it was unaccounted for and didn't end up working for the MDA research programs. Considering the nature of his personality, it is not a long shot to consider him a scam artist, or worse yet, like the rest of the Rat Pack, tied in with the Mafia in some way.

For me it confirmed what I already heard in other documentaries about him. Narcissistic abuse is worse than physical. There's a difference between mistakes, and pride, constant pattern of negative behaviours.

My mother grew up around that time and sad Jerry badmouthed Dean and supposedly initiated the breakup. I think Jerry might have even said Dean would amount to nothing and was a drunk. Well, Dean made so much money from film , tv and recordings after the split that at one point he practically owned NBC. As a child I used to think Jerry was hilarious in films, but when I saw him on TV in interviews and hosting the telethons he just read as a nasty person. I was a kid but I knew something was off. He just seemed creepy and mean.

Only competent health professional may give proper diagnosis, will need good observations for that, and usually family, friends, close people do have enough of them. There are some common types but really each narcissist is different like fingerprints. For the victims proper diagnosis is not required to learn how to deal with them. I wonder why he disown children from the 1st marriage? Perhaps they knew and were able to tell the truth about him. Narcissism is just type of character, it's not a disease but such person can destroy lives of close people, communities, world in order to save face (someone with NPD). @@sunglasses-ex4jn I’m delighted for you that you have nice memories of him. I do not intend to bring his name down. I know many narcissists, narcissistic people and love them dearly. If you go deeper into this issue you may love him even more. Narcissists are people broken in childhood, going through life in fear, dealing with difficulties like 2 years old, denying they do anything bad while for lack of empathy using, destroying people. He started pulling Dean’s hair, got too difficult, overdid. I believe him when he said in one interview they never lost contact. They stop working together but kept meeting, participated in parties of both families. It was very kind of Dean. I’ve seen him looking during some performances just miserable. It was very wise of Jerry to choose to be an actor to satisfy his need for attention (called ‘narcissistic supply’). Many narcissists or narcissistic people for attention (negative or positive) will irritate others, insult, lie, abuse. He is not a man who made mistakes but a man who had certain tendencies, constant pattern of negative behaviours. I used to love to watch Carol Burnett Show. But more I did it came realization that they also pushed down the level of sensibility of viewers what is decent. " All episodes of the I believe it was 1976 Mike Douglas show Season have been removed or destroyed. I believe Jerry Lewis had something to do with this.

That's not misleading. Narcissistic abuse is a serious matter. He could have had narcissistic traits or personality: infidelity (narcissists perceive only physical part of love and sometimes are mad about it), lack of empathy (insensitive jokes), cruelty (harassment), lack of values (insensitive public comments, harassment), etc. His acting career, contribution to MD charity could be motivated be need for attention (so called: narcissistic supply). YOU are the one confused over the birth certificate. The name on it is Jerry Lewis Davidson, the birth date is Sept. 12, 1972. It says this person was born in Dallas, TX. You just got through saying he was born on March 16, 1926 in Newark, NJ. Why is the documentation so blurred? So people can't read it? On the census record it clearly says Jerry Lewis, not Jerome. Maybe you could circle the Jerome part. You're trying to find the hospital he was born? And you can't even get his birth certificate right?

A very interesting and informative video, obviously a great deal of work went into it and that paid off, however, with such an iconic subject for the video why did you think it necessary to use a clickbait title?, don’t you have any confidence in your work? Or do you think 💭 people won’t be interested without a salacious title?, whatever the reason you need to stop using clickbait titles, making such an allegation of being the most violent icon and not giving any credibility to it in the video is unfair to someone who is not alive to defend themselves and is also an insult to his fans and remaining family and friends. Still going to give you a thumbs up as the video itself was excellent, thanks for sharing.
