We don't need an 'official' language...the language of Shakespeare is in no danger. You are free to speak any language to me you like; I am equally free not to understand a word you are saying. :)

Great quiz! Congrats Chantelle on not being fooled by most of the questions!! I think you did better than me actually on answering these questions! Awesome job Chantelle! You earned that winning crown! Though I understand Sam sometimes. My brain overthinks questions if I think too long. Though the McDonald’s one I knew right off was wrong. I worked for McDonald’s for several years and I remember learning about the history of the company as well as differences in other countries. The McDonald brothers who founded the company were Americans born in New Hampshire. Their parents were Irish immigrants to the US. Likewise I first thought true on the 50% of people own guns then was like, no wait that’s closer to American household ownership (44%) or the global percentage of American civilians who own guns (48%) and that individually it’s like around 25-30% for individuals. I got the question wrong about Christmas being illegal because of the year given. I was thinking “no it was legal definitely by the 1890s so it couldn’t be 1907 and that’s where he’s trying to trick them.” Well I was plenty wrong!!!! Even worse, I was born, raised, and live in Oklahoma. And while I remember discussing the fact that at one time Christmas was illegal in Oklahoma Territory in Oklahoma history class in high school, I didn’t realize we only removed that law the year we became a state! So I learned some new things about, not only my nation, but also my state. Thanks John for teaching me that! I like these trivia videos! You all are great at coming up with questions that lead to being incredibly informative...even if a person gets the answer correct I think people still learn something new via how the questions thus far have been phrased. Great video!

I'm American and even I didn't really know the answers to most of these questions. The language one is interesting, though. My uncle-in-law, who studied history in college, told me that some German person, in the 18th or so century, was supposed to decide what the official language of the US was going to be and his options were German, English, Hebrew, or Dutch. He picked English because it was more universal then (as it is today). But it just seems kinda foolish because what individual picks a language for a country or even a small population of people?
@scottmartin59903 жыл бұрын
Christmas has never been illegal in the United States. It was illegal in the Puritan Massachusetts Bay Colony, but that law was repealed in 1681, long before it became part of the United States. As for Oklahoma, in 1907 they made Christmas an official state holiday. But it certainly wasn't "illegal" before that -- anymore than Halloween, Valentine's Day, or Easter are illegal today even though they're not officially recognized.
@dayalakshmijeeana36043 жыл бұрын
Sam I love your accent though.Im from Mauritius and so we usually use British Accent English here but I have quite gotten the awful American accent by watching American Interview shows lol
@disoriented13 жыл бұрын
I'm confused...Christmas as a holiday wasn't celebrated by the more Puritan/Congregational Northeast colonies/states for many decades..but was certainly celebrated in the Middle and Southern colonies and states. No national or federal law ever 'outlawed' Christmas. When Christmas was legally made a federal holiday is another matter.

Bourbon must be made in Bourbon Co. Kentucky. For example, Jack Daniel's is a sour mash Tennessee whiskey. Other places make whiskey but it's not technically Bourbon. Rye is quite popular here too.
