It looks very RV friendly! So many places in the east you have trouble finding water and a place to dump. I hope to see the west one day. May be 2 or 3 yrs before these 2 grandbabies are in school and we can do a 2 or 3 week jaunt here and there. I love watching others videos. Gives me an idea of what we might like to see or do. The road going to that BLM land is called Basin. Pahrump is surrounded by BLM land, but that location is pretty handy. Next to the Smiths grocery fuel pumps there was a water spigot that I have seen people get water at for free. I never seen them hassled. We get a lot of RV snowbirds, so the town sees nothing especially odd about people living in vehicles. It is actually legal here to buy some land and live on it in a RV for 6 months a year. You can even build a 200 Sq' shed without a building permit. Build it out of whatever you like. The town dump is funded from our property taxes so there is no fee to get in. There is a weigh scale, but I think they just use that for commercial accounts. It is supposed to be residence only, but I never seen them check ID or look at license plates. I personally would rather see visitors dump there than trash the desert. I live here in Pahrump so if you have questions about the area, direct them my way and I will try to give you a good answer.

@@DannyB-cs9vx i recently bought a half acre of land in pahrump, its on condor dr. Is that a decent location ?
@DannyB-cs9vx6 жыл бұрын
@@lebanonliftedmuzik1319 I believe that area is still pretty much undeveloped, but I do like the location for several reasons. Just East of that neighborhood is BLM land so it will not be developed. The mountains East of there is where the ground water comes from, So your well should be good. Another big plus is There will not be any rapid infiltration basins< RIB's), put in upstream of your water source. Because Pahrump does not have a river to carry away partially treated waste, They are now trying to force the waste back into the ground water. Greed being a main human motivator, games with water rights are now being played on those wishing to sink a new well. This is where a speculator who doesn't own the water under your property can sell it to you. Call the building department to see what the new regulations and fees are.

What will happen if the population of Pahrump Nevada exceed more then 100,000 people by the year 2030? Pahrump is a large unincorporated communities, along with several large unincorporated communities with 100,000 or more people in Las Vegas and Clark County in Southern Nevada. It will never going to be incorporated cities. Enterprise with more then 300,000 people is the largest unincorporated community in Nevada, and never wanted to be incorporated city because of lack of money to afford it. They do now have LED street lights on some selected streets. Pahrump Nevada now borders California on the southwest side of community, and have two main thoroughfares and they are: NV-160 and NV-372.

The RV park name is Preferred RV resort. It is just off Hwy160 and 372 They also have some sort of membership option. I see these memberships being sold on Craigslist.
@persuethedream98626 жыл бұрын
Ah, ...probably like a gated community for the rv world. You have to be a member to stay there and probably a long term deal. But they are jammed in there side by side with no elbow room...ha...I dont get the appeal. I'm sure there are amenities for your membership...pool and such.
@DannyB-cs9vx6 жыл бұрын
@@persuethedream9862 Odd thing, someone asked me the name of that park in my notifications, but it never showed up on the video comment section. Anyway, I think you get 30 days rent included in the membership, and a reduced rate thereafter. You don't need to be a member to rent. Every 9 months they make you move to a new spot in the park. I think this is to keep down outside clutter. I knew a guy that lived in a house and bought a membership so he could use the hot tub there.

Some say it's too cold for van life in the winter. Have you been there in Dec, Jan, and Feb? How cold does it get and for how long? How hot does it get in Sept? I don't want to be there if it's still over 90 degrees. Does Walmart sell propane?
@persuethedream98624 жыл бұрын
I've been there mostly in the winter. Those three months can be very nice during the day...its still cold at night.cuz its 5k above sea level..30s. But the winds can be bad! Not sure about Sept but I imagine its still pretty hot. Walmart sells pre- bottled propane...no fill station.
@JoeDoe23 жыл бұрын
@@persuethedream9862 How do you heat your van? If it uses propane, do you have the canister inside or outside the van? Some say it's dangerous to have it inside cause it can leak and kill you.
@persuethedream98623 жыл бұрын
@@JoeDoe2 yes propane but I had a Mr buddy with the small canisters. Mr buddy is made for inside but you can't use a large, grill sized, tank inside ..just the canisters. and I would just turn it on to warm up, then off til I got cold. Mostly I went to the library during the day on bad days and did computer work. Nice library. At night I'd have it on until I was ready to go to sleep and turn it off...fully clothed with hat and gloves, double socks...get under the covers and pull them up..you can stay pretty warm if you have enough layers. Not as bad as it sounds, lol
@JoeDoe23 жыл бұрын
@@persuethedream9862 Are you saying the big ones are too dangerous for the inside cause they could leak or explode? I was concerned about the cost of the small green canisters. I've heard the big gray "20s" are much cheaper to run per hour of use, and I think some people have them outside the van on a rack, and some people build wooden boxes for them on the inside. I'm just starting to get info from people. I think it's warmer in Laughlin. Do you ever go over there? I'm also looking into the casino option in Laughlin where they let you stay as long as you want, but that's a smaller town with much fewer stores, etc. Probably no library. Thanks for the video.
@persuethedream98623 жыл бұрын
@@JoeDoe2 the big tanks are definitely cheaper per lb to operate...but Mr Buddy says don't do that in an enclosed area. Thats good enough for me. Here's the think about Nev in the winter...you are only a days drive from Southern Cal where is generally warmer. So if Pahrump got to cold..I'd leave for a wk and come back. Laughlin is a rough town according to people I've known who come from there.

PerSueTheDream my husband and I currently live in North Pole, Alaska but we are also seasonal residents of Pahrump, having bought a home there a couple of years ago. I can appreciate what pitstopsogmc said about the clanging, because it WAS a little bit of a surprise to hear all of that once you got to the dirt road, but then I chuckled and appreciated the “reality” of your video... no overdub... just life on the road as it really is for you. Cool. :-) As to not having a radio, perhaps that’s your personal choice because you prefer not to have one, or maybe the rig didn’t come with one, or its broken and getting a new one isn’t a budget priority right now.... Just in case you really DO like music, or e-books and such, I’ve got a little tip that you and your fellow travelers might appreciate. It’s called UE Boom and it’s a Blue Tooth Speaker. I usually use mine at home, but I don’t really think the speakers in my car are very good, and I don’t want to invest in replacing them, so I sometimes take my speaker with me on the road, and feed the sound from my iTunes account, or audiobooks or radio into that, and voila’! Traveling Tunes. And, if it were me, I’d keep the clanging, with or without the tunes. It’s always nice to rattle stuff a bit; stirs up stagnation and moves molecules. Motion is Lotion! Safe Travels to You! Oh, I nearly forgot... Your video was really informative. I learned some stuff about my new home town that I didn’t know already!
