@@sasirai4679 Sasi, everytime I would think about the pain, I'd do what Dr. Sarno said in Healing back pain, to think about my emotions and what's going on with me emotionally. I saw a TMS therapist a couple of times too. Then at some point I got really busy in my career- I didn't have time to think about symptoms, and I just continued living life. I'm also Christian and would constantly say, thank you God for my healing, and would visualize myself well every night before sleeping.

@@paulanazim2115oh Paula I’m sorry to hear that. As I shared I healed from TMS, but I did work with a TMS /Mindbody psychologist. Alan Langdon’s Pain Psychology center and then changed to Gina Denholm at Moving Beyond Pain. That really helped me, having professional Mindbody therapists to talk to. They were both great. I also joined Menda Health, which was great especially because of the group therapy aspect of it. Every night I’d re-read parts of either ‘Mind body prescription’ by Dr. Sarno or ‘Healing Back Pain by Dr. Sarno.’ It’s a step a day, but healing is 💯 possible and real.

When my dog first came from the shelter to our home she was so afraid she even didn´t want to be touched. And there were a lot off other difficulties. I had to start a really patient "conversation" with her to show her that she has a totally safe place now and that she is respected with all her needs. It took quite a time and we did it. Now we are THE dream team. Maybe my brain is kind of a shelter dog either, doing its own things only because of lacking conversation......... Thank you Dan!

Wow. Three nights ago I heard a doctor saying that any symptom that the body can produce for a reason, it can produce for NO reason, and be TMS. My brain must’ve loved hearing that because by the time I went to sleep I had almost zero symptoms and I slept a whole 6.5 hours straight that night with no nightmares!!! What a win.

The mindset truly has been the biggest thing for me. So many times I’ve thought that if I just do more I’ll get better, but I was still focused on fear so symptoms would get worse and I’d freak out and start questioning everything and the cycle would begin again. I’ve finally gotten my mind in the right place and now when symptoms increase I know why and the fear comes down and symptoms start to settle. It really has to be reinforced by your thoughts, and then your behavior teaches your brain you’re actually okay. It’s not easy, but staying consistent is key.

Based on this I just found a really good way to talk to my brain which calmed symptoms down very quicky, I had kinda been at war before but this is so much better. First I got a really happy memory in my mind, then said to my brain, I know what's going on on here, you're using the wrong neural pathways because you think I'm in danger, but i'm not and there's nothing wrong with me. wouldn't you like to go back to doing things like (the happy memory). and I said in your own time you can go back to using the correct neural pathways then we can go back to doing all those happy things. but having the strong happy memory in mind, something that's really emotive sends a strong signal of safety and warmth the brain. it really helped me anyway.

You know there's that saying, "talking to yourself is the first sign of madness"? That's just not true. The power of the spoken word is very powerful! We need to work in unison with our mind, body and spirit not against them. The brain needs to have the message relayed to it that we are, in fact, not in danger but well. Thanking the brain for looking out for us but letting it know that we're not in imminent danger is a perfect example of how we can work with our brain rather than against it. Thanks for reminding us, Dan. X

Thankfully God is merciful and sent his Son to die for us. John 3:16 set me free. Still have a problematic brain and I probably will until the day I die, who knows but now at least I know it has an ending because I know I'm going to heaven. LOVE DAN'S STUFF... his videos and Dr. Sarno has helped me overcome pain, with acceptance of myself, working through the pains that come and go by calming my brain to feel safe. SO GRATEFUL for this information. But let's be realistic this world can be dangerous, but also we can stay calm and trust God to take care of us. I hope you all know Jesus as your Savior. God bless!

We learned about how this is ONLY DISTRACTION PAIN and isn't due to any functional issue in my body. You were there with me when we learned our body is healthy and safe. We don't need this pain..." - SPEAK OUT LOUD, when possible, to make the experience more immersive (thinking, speaking, hearing, feeling resonance in chest). I read The Divided Mind and accepted the premise immediately, but within two weeks of applying the theory/treatment to my Central Sensitization Syndromes, I was struggling with a lot of painful "post-exertional malaise" and went looking for more direction about what exactly to say to my brain when symptoms flare. Dan, it is your words that really bring so much change to my life. Nowadays I apply TMS and PDP teachings to my acne and other skin issues I've been having. It is crazy but I had refused to believe that something so visible to the eye like acne or psoriasis could be TMS. It made it even more difficult to have everyone see your struggle openly and comment on these things. But if anything, applying your daily teachings, calming my mind and fully accepting "yes, my acne and skin issues are TMS. I am not broken, my skin is perfectly intact and capable of healing itself. This random breakout is not because I did something wrong, but because my mind realizes I am hyperventilating over these symptoms thus giving me even more fear to believe that I am broken." I am forever grateful for all the work you do. Nothing is truly impossible in this great TMS/PDP community ❤🎉

@GUGGURAJA10 ай бұрын
I need your help! I had chronic back pain for more than three years until I read John Sarno‘s ‚Healing Backpain‘. Interestingly before my back pain started, I had skin problems, it was diagnosed as Rosacea, got the treatment and it was gone in a couple of weeks and then the back pain started. Now the back pain is gone after I was aware of TMS. In the last few days my skin problems have started again, it is exactly the same as the one I had three years ago. I have a feeling that it is due to TMS. Since you have mentioned your skin issues in this community, could you please share your opinion and if it is indeed TMS, do you have any specific videos or literature that can help. Thank you so much!

@@GUGGURAJA I'd apply rosacea to the same category as well as what dermatology defines as "chronic" but with no information on why those skin conditions happen to some people. For me, the knowledge of TMS through Sarno and Dan's teachings were quite sufficient at last (trust me, I scoured the internet on this issue). What I found was that even though Sarno did not mention acne as thoroughly (he does mention psioriasis sometimes), I came across an old blog once from a former patient of Sarno who saw him for acne and Sarno suggested her to treat acne exactly no different from back pain. Especially these random flare ups of your rosacea that you can't attribute to any physical injury and that are not acute (like if you were to hit your toes somewhere), give them the space in your mind that these are only there to distract you from something or protect you from something that's 'dangerous' - basically your misinformed brain is now picking up rosacea because it remembers that was smth you had, it no longer has effect on you with back pain, so it throws rosacea back at you to see your reaction. Also, give a read perhaps into Dr. Ted Grossbart's "Skin Deep". His teachings are aligned to Sarno's thoughts and this helped solidify for me that TMS/PDP is completely applicable for skin issues like acne, rosacea, eczema etc. I really hope this helps! It's already great you noticed the odd appearance of your rosacea - now it is time to teach the brain that your knowledge is there, you know you are not broken and you know that this is only an attempt of the mind to put and keep you in a state of fear. Believe in our body's ability and normal cycle of healing itself from actual injuries. The rest (that which is as bizarre as rosacea or acne) goes out the window and into the TMS symptom bin.

@@dreamsatnight Thanks a ton for taking time to respond in detail. I just downloaded a copy of ‘Skin Deep’. After reading your comment, I’m convinced that my Rosacea symptoms are due to TMS, it is amazing how brain can generate these visible physical symptoms! I would have never believed it if I had not experienced it myself. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge. I will surely drop a comment here in a few days/weeks to let you know if applying TMS/PDP techniques will relieve my symptoms.

I have read some of skin deep. I do suggest that you keep with the simple suggestions the Dan shares. Dan doesn’t believe you have to dig into your past. The book seemed more difficult to me to implement. It just added more pressure to my life. I have all over body itching all the time for 13+ years. No doctor has been able to be helpful at all. Luckily I had other issues that have left. That proved to me that I can use Dan’s methods for anything other issues I have, including itching. Thank God!

I had this conversation last night, and it worked so well! Slept like a baby. Then woke up and BOOM! Lord, it is a bit of work during a flare. This is a great reminder to stay the path. Also, sometimes the flare-up is because I'm actually really tired and need to meet my basic needs. Thank you

Just remember, that if the conversation helped that night - it will work anytime if used consistently.

One thing I did with healing back pain is I underlined the sentence in evey paragraph that was the main thought and made flash cards and just after reading the book several times I got to the point where I was just reading the flash cards. I was on crutches and in three weeks I was cured.

Hey! This was really helpful. I agree teaming with your brain is the way to go. We don’t need to shame ourselves- that may be how we got here in the first place…I also like to use funny words to name the symptom. It worked for me in the past and this was a great reminder to apply it to the current symptoms I am experiencing. Speaking to myself out loud is something I will apply this time! Thank you 🙏

Makes me wonder if hypnotherapy would be good I know it’s helped other people, Dan was my hypnotherapist and could talk to my brain and my subconscious I think I’d be golden😊 This is by far my favorite video so far.I went with a less expensive dentist than the one I wanted, ended up with trigeminal Neuralgia I was even friends with the other Dentist. And he said afterwards oh no because he does muscle testing he said I talk to your brain and make sure you’re OK before I touch you and make sure you’re calm in your brain talks back to me he’s extremely intelligent. So to save a few bucks I went to someone without talking to my brain at all. Oh the regret

I just realized Ive been doing this for years with my fear of falling. However, its slightly different, more like self parenting: I know you're a bit nervous, thats okay, I'm with you, we're fine. My problems now are probably psychosomatic (stress that keeps 'locked up' in a bodypart), so this approach seems a better match. I will definetely add this!

Hey Dan, I want to express my gratitude for all the valuable work you do. Your contributions mean a lot to me. I have a question regarding your role as a TMS coach. Do you think consistently discussing "chronic pain" in your work might inadvertently signal to your subconscious that it's still an important issue for you, potentially leading to its manifestation in your own life? I've come to strongly believe in the principle that what we focus on, we attract. While I'm contemplating becoming a coach myself to help others, I'm concerned about whether constantly talking about chronic pain might inadvertently trigger it in my own life, despite my complete understanding and belief in TMS. I'd really appreciate hearing your perspective on this.
@PainFreeYou10 ай бұрын
While that may happen if you are still fearful of TMS, it doesn't happen to me. I am SO confident in TMS as a real thing and what to do about it that it doesn't phase me at all. I'm not afraid of TMS and so it doesn't happen. If I get a twinge, I know what it is, give it no attention or fear and it goes away. I'm not concerned at all. I've ben chronic pain free for 14 years and coaching for the past 7 years.
