This is so spot on. I needed this. The permission to show up imperfect. The permission to go slowly, one step at a time, one minute at a time. I've denied myself that gentle approach and because of that had to suffer a lot the past years. Very helpful testimony, thank you!

Joi, I found myself crying at 3 separate times during your testimony. People are always talking about how important it is for them to relate to someone who has the same symptoms as they do - it makes it more personal. I never cared that much about finding someone who had the same experiences as me because I know I have TMS. But then as I listened to you describe your hip diagnoses and your fear of limping in public, it was like listening to myself. And it has struck me to my core. Thank you so much for sharing yourself and your story. I am so grateful to you and Dan for this video.

Joi put into words how much I was resisting rest cause I perceived it as not getting something done or trying to distract from it. My perfectionism or judgement of not being enough are why I resist. Plus as Dan always says stop trying to treat your symptoms. I think this is the underlying reason why I and many have suffered from insomnia. You're okay and permitted to rest. To do nothing. To just be. I'm feeling very hopeful. Thank you both for sharing. It's so rewarding to hear you both in that and I loved the part about being the parent you always wanted. We're finally becoming whole no longer denying the parts of ourselves that we've deemed bad. I'm holding on to hope for my own success story when it happens 😊

Thanks for sharing Joi. Yes, the hypervigilance changes you and I know that feeling of "danger all the time", where nothing is comfortable. Fortunately we know it is a lie, that we are in fact ok, and it's a matter of telling yourself that and accepting the uncomfortable feelings for the time being.

This has me thinking back on all of the times in my life I’ve experienced symptoms, which I believe all have been fear based. I’ve always been very anxious, fearful, paranoid, ocd/anxiety. I never correlates physical symptoms to be correlated to the brain bc that’s excaly what ocd does as well. Create perceived danger to ruminate upon. This has been so eye opening and been connecting many dots for me. This was the missing piece I needed on my road to recovery and retraining my brain, I am okay!!! 😮❤❤❤ thank you this is life changing

Really interesting about the wheat and dairy sensitivities, I've been 'told' by a nutritionist I'm allergic to these, I'd never had any symptoms... but I stopped eating them for 4 years. Now with my new pds learning, I started eating them again, and now I have symptoms... so this helps me understand I need to work through them without fear. Brilliant, thank you

You're giving pain a hug instead of scolding it. If you change the lens of how you view pain from a negative connotation to a positive connotation. Then your body will start to go through a metamorphosis and a renewed understanding that there is nothing to be fearful of.

I’m in absolutely no doubt that my symptoms are TMS. I just know for sure. But it doesn’t help one bit because then you get the confusion of the next step, and there’s no clarity whatsoever. We’re told that we need to feel our emotions, but that feeling frustration towards our pain is bad. So it’s ’feel your emotions, but not those ones.’ I’ve been told that we have to be inside our window of tolerance in order to process our emotions, but also that we need to process our emotions in order to find our window of tolerance. I’ve been trying to make sense of this for years, but the contradictions have left me terrified and unbelievably confused. Anyone else struggle so much with these next steps? To be clear, I’m not doubting my TMS. I know this is what’s going on, but it doesn’t help at all. It’s beyond frustrating.

Giving your brain the clarity it needs to recover is essential, even if you are not 💯 convinced. This is what I had to do. I had to throw away the mri and make a decision. It’s that decision that you will use this approach to recover, and you may wobble, but you keep coming back.

I definitely don’t feel safe reliving my past. I have friends who do IFS and ACA. They keep telling me that is what I need.

@JoiSharpMindBody
@JoiSharpMindBody Жыл бұрын
There have been plenty of people that have recovered completely without it. But what IFS does is show where repression might be hiding, so if you feel that you have some emotional opposition going on, a few sessions of IFS can give you the skills to detect it. IFS also brings in the energy of acceptance right where you are, so it helps remove internal pressure.
