Ive been following you for quite a few months now and its been an amazing time for me. I've still got stress in my life and memories from the past but I use the advice you have provided and it works even though my symptoms are there they don't last as long. They don't become chronic ❤

I only recently found your channel, and I'm beginning to activate my parasympathetic nervous system using some of the techniques I'm learning. To my knowledge, the vast majority of my adult life has been spent in sympathetic mode. Each time I get into parasympathetic mode I feel strange and a bit icky. I'm convinced it's because my body is capitalizing on these brief moments of actual rest to heal and detox. I'm very excited to begin this new chapter of my healing journey. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and wisdom ❤

@EyesOpenNoFear what techniques have you been using to calm? I've tried meditation and it helps for a little while and then it all fires up again within minutes.
@Eyes0penNoFearАй бұрын
@@Julie-iw3mh I can usually stay in parasympathetic mode for a few minutes at a time, then go back into sympathetic. They're small victories, but as I practice more I'm sure my skill will improve and I'll be able to spend more and more time in rest and digest mode. I also use a sound wave frequency device called a WAVwatch. It has a program for the Vagus Nerve which makes it far easier to get into the right mindset/bodyset

Ok, so it is safe to rest. I tried to push true while I am very tired but resting is safe and not resting is also safe
@PainFreeYouАй бұрын
There is no right or wrong. If tired, rest. But we don't need to rest for days. Keep moving, but believing we have to push creates more danger. Give yourself permission to rest if needed, but then get up and keep going after a reasonable rest. If fear keeps you "resting", you'll want to encourage yourself to get moving again.

I could be wrapped in cotton wool and still feel anxious/danger. It feels like the acceptance of safety does not compute in my head, it’s not compatible with the wiring my brain has. I understands it logically as a concept but can’t genuinely and as fact send the information to my muscle and nerves. But I am working on shusssssing that part of my voice in my head and engaging in other things around me rather that trying to distract myself.

I can acknowledge the pain and other sensations going on and not give them much attention, but I hate the insomnia and fatigue and I know that’s not serving me. I had sciatica once, broke both my feet once and had two surgeries and frankly those were easy compared to this relentless fatigue. I’m not sure how to apply safety messages to this. Fatigue isn’t harming me; it’s just not a desirable way to live.
@1STBUCKLEYАй бұрын
Fatigue is the thing that gets me too
@PainFreeYouАй бұрын
We aren't fixing fatigue. We are convincing the brain we are safe and that nothing bad is going on. Including the fatigue. Symptoms will settle down when you do. When you show little to no concern.

Yes so confusing though when so many people succeed with somatic tracking but that’s focusing on it. Then some say to not focus on it…
@PainFreeYouАй бұрын
Does somatic tracking make you feel safer? Or more focused on what hurts? If safer, feel free to use it. I'm not against it. But somatic tracking was not part of my solution and not part of many peoples recoveries. So, it's a tool, but not mandatory.
@DandelionsandbutterfliesАй бұрын
@@PainFreeYou I guess idk how to feel safe. 😂😂😂😂
@Meand1209Ай бұрын
It’s a different type of focusing. When you feel the sensations, it is observing them without getting emotionally involved. The type of focusing you don’t want to do, is emotional. That is trying to figure out why it is like this, what did I do wrong, how long it has been like this, what if it’s never going to go away etc. However if you do that then there is a solution to that too. Instead of trying to get rid of that type thoughts and emotions, you would do the opposite. You would allow them to be, you would allow yourself to cry, even scream if you need to. If you allow every time that type of thoughts and fears come up, then soon they will fade by themselves. What you resist, persists.
@rv823Ай бұрын
This feels impossible with some symptoms. I randomly go blind and doctors have no idea why and have dismissed me as crazy. I have 20 million other horrifying symptoms that I somatic track and have learned to lean into and accept slowly, but how do you do this when you randomly lose your senses and there’s no explanation? Could that even be TMS?
@PainFreeYouАй бұрын
The loss of eyesight is real, but may be caused by the brain perceiving danger. It used to be referred to as hysterical blindness. That is an outdated term and now they sometimes call it a conversion disorder. It is a phenomenon that used to be more prevalent many years ago. But the symptoms still appear currently. My view is that it is an extreme form of a perceived danger response. If the eyesight comes back, then it is not a body / physical problem. Focus on my approach of teaching your brain you are safe. When the brain settles down, it will settle down the nervous system and autonomic functions will all settle down as well. If telling yourself you are safe is not believable, tell yourself that you WILL BE okay. Symptoms will settle down with consistent clarity and calm.

Hey Dan, I've been steady on mindset for months, maybe a year and still have symptoms. Wonder why it's taking so long.

After broken sleep for a few nights due to allergies, the fatigue is awful. Managed to get out, set myself two tasks to do, but feel like I'm on empty. Tears are not far. Psyched up for physio appointment and then a message saying that it's cancelled! MRI due at the weekend. After that I'm signing off of the medical pathway.

Hi, I've had broken sleep for years and colorful seasonal allergies for months, etc. Chronic fatigue is frustrating. I get it. But, the truth is that I can function quite well, especially when I can reassure my brain I'm OK and treat the symptoms with indifference. The difference these two simple (not always easy) commitments make is huge! Convey messages of safety continuously and be patient. I have noticed that when I'm hyper focused on what feels abnormal or uncomfortable it only feeds the pain brain. You got this! Sure, it's hard, but it's powerful medicine to focus on WHAT IS GOING RIGHT. And what is always going right? Your brain is protecting you. And with the knowledge Dan provides here you are equipped to reorient your thoughts into calm reassuring action. Take it day by day instead of looping the past with the future ❤

So it's SAFE for me to go to the dentist on Friday, right? Even though while I don't have a fear or phobia of the dentist, the dentist triggers ALL my CPTSD symptoms. I wonder if this is how inmates on death row feel a few days before their execution.
