@2:40 I was born two years after this clip. Does anyone remember when TPIR switched from its original buzzer to the popular "shock buzzer" used today?
@graigmellon78745 жыл бұрын
I think it was around 1991 when the current one went into use, even though it had the same pitch since 1986. Prior to that it seemed like the buzzer was different season by season (and sometimes mid-season that season too).

2:38 BOB BARKER: The actual retail price -- $7,215, a difference of -- (buzzer) -- $615! Ohhh... and that's what happens to a lot of horse players too.

Here is an example. Pretend it was the 2014 version of "Card Game". The price between $6,600 to $7,200, the ARP was $7,215. That was no more that $7,200.

Between $6,600 through $7,200, $7,215 was more than $7,200 which was a terrible loss.

How long did they have the contestants start with an opening bid themselves before they gave them a starting bid?
@houseofproctor4 жыл бұрын
1983. The new Card Game started with 2000 for the opening bid. Changed again in 1993 to 8000 starting. And then 12000 and up to the current 15000 start as of today

And that would have at the time used the other buzzer back then for overbids (until about the mid 90s or so) which is now used today in this game.

No. She didn't overshoot the ARP. She stopped fifteen dollars too early. If she overshot, the readout would've said "over."
@RJN06074 жыл бұрын
@@zacheryalderton4643 She was under. Notice that Bob said "a difference of..." She had to be within $600 of the ARP without going over. If she had gone over, the readout would've said "over.". See 2:38 to clear it up.
@RJN06074 жыл бұрын
@@zacheryalderton4643 Her bid was $15 too low. She had to be within $600 of the ARP. The difference was $615, which was outside of the range that she had randomly selected from the price cards. That meant with the range she selected, the ARP had to be between $6,600 and $7,200. If she picked up a 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 before she decided to stop, then she would've won the game. If she picked up the $1,000 spread card at the beginning of the game, she would've stood a better chance, mathematically.
