It would of been a cool detail if Skavenblight appeared "Kavzar" to all non skaven factions until you actually discovered their presence within. Black Crag changes names if you capture it as the dwarfs so it's not without precedent.

@@Maharaja_of_Punjab Kavzar and Tylos are both the same area of skavenblight, just with different names depending on the source or culture. It has several other names as well. If im not mistaken Kavzar is the dwarf name for it and Tylos would be the empire one

You need a mod for it to automatically change afaik. When you occupy it as Dwarfs it still has the old name. The main city building chain just has the proper city name on it.

What if Skaven could build fake cities in ruins? For example, something like a guaranteed ambush for the enemy army, that will also debuff them, or just a bomb trap, that will severely damage units or even kill the weak ones.

It'd be fun if Skaven would be changed to be able to *only* build undercities, with the top city actually being ruined and settleable by other factions, without necessarily discovering the Skaven undercity. Also having armies in underway-mode should keep them hidden, with just a chance to spot them. Would be unbalanced? Yes. Do I care? No. Sometimes you gotta throw balance out of the window. Especially if it's a fantasy setting and the game is mostly played in singleplayer or co-op. There's literally no competitive "grand campaign" tournament, so why care?

Well not exactly. I would rather not run around hunting skaven and them randomly burning my settlements because they are invisible. If it's so unbalanced that literally every campaign turns into "skaven pain" then I won't be playing that game, lol.

Obviously it'd need modifiers that increase Skaven detection etc. Also other typical Skaven characteristics could be added, like a lot of infighting and keeping it much harder for Skaven to keep a coherent and united empire. Also beating Undercities shouldn't be done via "remove Undercity" button, or by burning down the city on top, but maybe through a new type of battlemap. Thing is, Skaven are ridiculously overpowered and they are literally too numerous to be defeated. The only thing holding them back is extreme internal competition. And that should be the thing that should keep them from running over the world. Skaven *should* be a pain in the a'' when they pop up. But here another layer could be implemented, like, say, growth. Skaven populace grows at significant speeds, if a population gets too big, they begin to kill each other or weaker clans get exiled. So, instead of Skaven corruption, have Skaven cities throw out relatively weak armies of clanrats, slaves and few numbers of specialized units, when pop reaches critical mass. This could be turned into a dice-game for the Skaven as well, with there not being a guarantee that the "surplus" Skaven go up to the surface, but start an immediate battle for the control over the undercity, with a general "loyalty" modifier, of the faction holding the city making an uprising more or less likely. Therefor 'punishing' Skaven factions that are expanding 'too fast' by not being able to stay in control, causing a lot more infighting within the Skaven and thus protecting the other factions to be overrun way too soon. This could turn growth for the Skaven into a boon and a curse at the same time. They'd be able to build up fast, but if they cannot keep control their faction would collapse, for another Skaven faction to arise and suffer the same fate again.

@@VulpesChama They could use the new like, survival type battles for the Undercities, like you have to push an army down into it, pressing forward against hordes of enemies, until you reach like the centre of it, and have to either defeat something, or like, protect some type of sapper unit that'd set bombs on it or something. Then again, I don't actually know the reception of the Survival battle type yet, since I haven't played it myself at the moment, but it's a nice idea

I do agree skavern cities should be undercity only, would be really awesome and make them feel far more like skavern. Having to ''share'' land with every other race. You would need a very different set of victory objectives. And some after battle options so when you win a battle at a town you sack and establish undercity.

Undercities are only useful around mid-game, because the corruption will be spread around so much that it won't be immediately clear if a settlement is actually ruins, so against an actually intelligent player you can do some trickery. They might prepare a big army only to find a place uninhabited, but won't want to instantly take it cause you might be hiding next door or right by it.

Thinking about how in AOS the skaven tried tunneling into an enemy city and accidentally tunneled to the bottom of an ocean, flooding skavenblight and draining an ocean because a few rats didn't do the maths for engineering the right way

and then a few others accidentally burrowed into Nagash's black pyramid in AOS, causing the Necroquake and ironically saving the mortal realms from his control. and lore implies the chaos gods 'guided' that, so it was like Khorne, Nurgle, and Tzeentch looked at those Skaven like "hey, check it out, they're gonna do something stupid. GHR, you seein this? your dudes are gonna fuck Nagash again."
