Awesom job ! I love it when someone shows people how to do alternative painting options for lexan bodies. And on a side note for everyone that has lexan bodies that are a little beat up or maybe they messed up there paint job being there first time or just dont like the color anymore they can mask the windows strip off the stickers clean it thoroughly and re spray it from the out side and just like that you have a new look. I would love to see someone like you show people how to do something like that . Either way awesome video my man !

If you paint the inside of the body a rust color, every time you scratch it it will add a natural patina... :)
@thedumpydustman60886 жыл бұрын
Just a tip for you buddy. If you cut the over spray film before you pull it off it's a really good way of masking. Use it a lot for window rubbers grills and various plastic trim on lexan shells. But Bug looks awesome my friend

Hey man, the bug looks fantastic. I am in the process of building one myself, and I wanted to go for a rusty look, and BOOM I stumble across your video. I was even going to use the Mustard Yellow too, but might go for an orange, maybe. I didn't catch the product numbers for the Vallejo products you used. Any chance you could let me and the others know please. Cheers Del

Looks pretty good. My problem with painting lexan, is the paint doesn't stay when the truck rolls 20-40 feet down a steep embankment.

well, if it is a real car, the bank will get damaged too. the thing is that you can always patch up the damaged paint.

Very nice job but I was wondering when you paint a body on the outside how do you protect it from scraps if you bump it?
@RCeveryday6 жыл бұрын
You really cant. I dont know if there are any satin clear coats that would work with poly carbonate.
@delhardyrc5 жыл бұрын
@@RCeveryday possibly try a Testors Clear Flat, or Testors Dullcote I've used them on the outside of Polycarb bodies
@saulphoto10734 жыл бұрын
Do you know where can I find a brasilia shell o body?
@golferchin764 жыл бұрын
brybaby, RC lexan body shells will break anyways. If you really want to do an amazing paint job, paint it from the outside like scale modelers do. People get stuck with painting lexan from inside, but it is really limiting even if you have good art skills. That body gets damaged if you touch a barrier anyways. The thing is, if the paint gets brushed away, you can always repair the paint, just like a real car. But keep in mind body shells are consumables. Some people I know their body shell last only one race. So they practice with single/double color inside painted shell, qualify and race with the really beautifully done body.

I'm new to the hobby and i get a lot of information from your videos. I watched all of them. What type of paint do you recommend for a hard body? I'm doing my first one(TF2). Will any spray paint and primer from the local home improvement store be ok.
@RCeveryday6 жыл бұрын
Thats all I use for hard bodies. With the rustoleum brand stuff often I dont even use primer.
@pauldryden79082 жыл бұрын
Great paint job ! How did you lower and get the negative camber on the model ??
@RCeveryday2 жыл бұрын
I just cut some coils on the springs, the camber was done by using some adjustable rear suspension arms and shortening them. The wheel hexes are also custom and quite narrower to help it tuck all around.
@pauldryden79082 жыл бұрын
@@RCeveryday thanks for the reply ! I’m going to be getting the beetle m06 and lowering it with negative camber also

@craigm89506 жыл бұрын
Awesome result, painting lexan on the outside!!! Did you apply a matte clearcoat before you start driving it? Nice thing about painting the outside, you could apply a lexan patch to the predrilled body holes (from the inside) and then be able to use magnets....

Hi could you tell me what part you used to lower and get the negative camber ? Is it a Tamiya part ?
@RCeveryday2 жыл бұрын
It’s been a while but I think it was an adjustable upper control arm for a tamiya ta02 chassis. I have been collecting parts for my old school kits and had some sitting around. I want to say they were yeah racing brand.
@leonelmolinajr24 жыл бұрын
What did you use for the window mask?
