Because the police are power hungry bullies, there's footage that came out recently of them walking around shooting people with grenade launchers and laughing about it like it was a hilarious game they were playing. They were driving around in a van looking for people to shoot, an unmarked van for the record, and a business owner thought they were rampaiing lunatics and defended himself with a rifle. Police immediately got out of their car, he surrendered when he knew who they were, and then they beat him to a pulp and lied about him resisting arrest. NONE of the officers were punished after months, or even named.

Just to clear this up. Our curfew specifically states that it is okay to be outside on your property BUT if a law enforcement officer asks you to go inside during the curfew, you MUST do so, this is specifically written in the order. This happened on the first night that followed three straight nights of complete chaos and destruction in our city and those people on the porch have no idea as to the threat that those officers were in pursuit of. Remember, a lot of these looters and arsonists, many of whom are not even from the area, prey on trying to blend into normal society so many of them will scatter into the neighborhoods when being chased and pretend that they live there to prevent from being caught just to get away. It sucks that she got hit with paintballs, but when they say "Get inside now", it's probably best to do what they say.

The curfew was issued and written by the state which has complete governance over the legal authority to demand residents go inside during a crisis, and we WERE in a crisis.
